Flexsys Kuantan Malaysia Conducts Road Safety Campaign: Defensive Driving During Monsoon Season ? Flexsys Kuantan, Malaysia organized a Road Safety Campaign focusing defensive driving during the monsoon season.?There was a high interest from employees who attended the session both in person as well as remotely via video link. ? The event featured a speaker from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), who offered practical advice for navigating challenging road conditions such as maintaining safe distances, managing hydroplaning risks, and ensuring vehicles are well-prepared for wet weather. Employees were also reminded of the importance of following traffic regulations and avoiding distractions while driving. The session concluded with a fun, interactive game, which reinforced key information and overall awareness. Participants tested their knowledge and the clever winners are pictured here with safety helmets.? ?? Forklifts / powered industrial trucks are used in many Victorian workplaces and are seen as essential to many business processes and tasks. Unfortunately, they are also regularly misused (either intentionally or unintentionally), and have been involved in a significant number of injuries and deaths in workplaces. Tragically, WorkSafe reports that eight people have been killed in forklift-related workplace incidents since 2019 in Victoria, including three pedestrians working near forklifts. As a WHS lawyer working on the coalface of workplace injuries and prosecutions, I have seen a clear trend in my work in recent years towards a far bigger share of mobile plant / traffic management type incidents. To attempt to slow this trend, WorkSafe yesterday released updated guidance material on the operation of forklifts in Victorian workplaces. If you operate forklifts in your workplaces, this is essential reading and provides important information regarding WorkSafe's expectations for safety relevant to forklifts. https://lnkd.in/gJuCS4wQ

Horseplay, often seen as “harmless fun,” can lead to serious injuries, disrupt workflows, and compromise the safety of everyone around. ?? Why is horseplay dangerous? 1?? Unpredictability: Unexpected actions can catch others off guard, increasing the risk of accidents. 2?? Hazard Amplification: What seems like a joke may interact with tools, equipment, or hazardous materials, leading to unintended consequences. 3?? Cultural Impact: It sets a precedent that safety rules are negotiable, weakening an organization’s safety culture. ?? Safety starts with accountability: Promote an environment of mutual respect and mindfulness. Reinforce that safety rules are non-negotiable and apply to everyone. Empower teams to speak up when they see unsafe behavior—even in the name of fun.
