What’s the new ICE guide and why does it matter? Last week, the Transportation Research Board announced the publication of the much anticipated NCHRP Research Report 1087: Guide for Intersection Control Evaluation. This guide brings together the best intersection control evaluation (ICE) practices and tools, equipping states in developing and updating their own ICE policies and processes. ?? Learn why the national ICE guide matters and what you need to know about its contents below. ??

Interesting video that I recommend all watch! These are real time efforts to create the United States FIRST High Speed Rail Line! Will it be Texas Central, Brightline West or California HSR that takes the title???
Interesting video on high-speed rail in Texas. In the abstract, it’s clear that linking up cities like Dallas and Houston is a good idea, but navigating issues like property rights and hostile interest groups (say airlines) have made it difficult to get this project built. In this video, NEPA is framed up as an obstruction, which is an interesting choice! Texas Central’s EIS advanced more quickly than Brightline West (aka DesertXpress) and some of CA HSR’s EISes. No matter, we can still do better. Seth Moulton is one of the most effective HSR advocates in the country. One thing about Texas Central that has always seemed off, and is highlighted in this video, is that it doesn’t quite hit Houston as centrally as it should. Always on the look out for how to build HSR faster. Let me know what you think: https://lnkd.in/eJEXjm8Y

As America's infrastructure ages, countless local governments across the country find themselves at an important crossroads. Faced with the often expensive and critical task of upgrading their local infrastructure, they must decide how to proceed: the most economical option? incremental patchwork? or large-scale overhaul programs that will be a long-term investment in the future. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, recently faced this challenge, and it decided to look to the future by undertaking a massive overhaul of its aging water system. The city chose SAM as a partner to make these vital improvements, and the program ended up requiring extensive knowledge of multiple geospatial and engineering disciplines. Luckily, SAM's Managed Geospatial Solutions? framework was uniquely suited to the challenge. We detail how our team helped the city make this program a success in our latest case story: https://lnkd.in/dkeVKCEN

Sign up today for our Annual State of Transportation event! Registration is open now at: https://lnkd.in/e2EGAuGH The Commonwealth of Virginia is making thoughtful and progressive steps to improve all modes of transportation with an emphasis on resilience, equity, and safety for all users, including cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, the volume of additional public funding and projects with the size of the current workforce contribute significant challenges for meeting the needs of the transportation industry in the Commonwealth. During this interactive panel discussion by Director Jennifer DeBruhl, AICP, PMP: Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, Commissioner Stephen Brich, PE: Virginia Department of Transportation, and Executive Director DJ Stadtler: Virginia Passenger Rail Authority, will discuss how they keep "Transporting Change" for all modes of transportation throughout the Commonwealth. Our distinguished speakers will offer insights on operating and maintaining Virginia’s highways, rail, bus, and pedestrian improvement needs, maintaining the system, workforce growth and development, and how they are planning to implement projects in order to transport Virginia's transportation systems into the future.
