Learning from the Elders: A Mentoring Series by the Nigerian Institute of Architects Today, I had the privilege of attending an insightful session titled "Learning from the Elders"—a mentoring series hosted by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA). The event featured Arc.Titilayo Adeleye fnia and the NIA President, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi who shared invaluable perspectives on the importance of mentorship in the architectural profession. Arc.Mobolaji Adeniyi emphasized that mentorship is not just about having someone to guide you, but about finding a mentor who can support you through the various stages of your career. Arc.Mobolaji Adeniyi also shared a personal story from her early days working with an Israeli company, where she spent much of her time focusing on staircase details. At the time, she felt this was beneath her qualifications, but looking back, she is grateful for that experience. It was during this phase that she learned the importance of precision and patience, which has greatly contributed to her professional fulfillment today. Her message to us, the young architects, was clear: Find mentors. Connect. Learn. Through mentorship, we can navigate the complexities of architecture and accelerate our growth. The wisdom and guidance we receive from experienced mentors can help us reach our full potential and achieve success at any level. As we continue our journey in architecture, let’s remember that every phase—whether big or small—contributes to our development. The path to greatness is shaped not only by what we know, but by who we learn from. #Mentorship #Architecture #LearningFromTheElders #YoungArchitects #NIA #ProfessionalGrowth

**Teachers – The Architects of Our Future ??** As the saying goes, "Teaching is the profession that teaches all other professions." Teachers possess the extraordinary ability to shape not just individual lives, but entire futures. They are the quiet architects, designing the blueprints of a better tomorrow with each lesson they impart. Every teacher has the potential to ignite the flame of curiosity, cultivate resilience, and inspire greatness. It’s not just the subjects they teach, but the life skills, values, and passion they embed in young minds that make the most lasting impact. From the first day of school to graduation, teachers walk alongside us, guiding, nurturing, and believing in our potential long before we realize it ourselves. They serve as mentors, confidants, and role models—shaping not just careers but characters. ???? In a rapidly evolving world, the role of teachers has become even more pivotal. They are the ones who foster critical thinking, adaptability, and emotional intelligence in the next generation. In their classrooms, they mold future leaders, innovators, and changemakers. ??? As we reflect on the power of education, let's take a moment to honor those who have dedicated their lives to this noble profession. The future they build is not in the bricks and mortar of structures, but in the hearts and minds of the students they inspire. To all the incredible teachers out there, thank you for believing in us, challenging us, and for being the guiding lights in our journey. Your work doesn’t just change lives; it changes the world. ???? **Who was the teacher that made the most lasting impact on your life? Share your story below!** #TeachersMouldTheFuture #EducationMatters #InspireGreatness #MentorsForLife #LifelongLearning #TeachingWithPassion #GratitudeForTeachers #ShapingTomorrow

Career growth doesn’t stop. Being relevant means there is always something new to learn. But when you are busy with a million emails, multi-disciplinary projects and back to back meetings, it’s easy to let CPD opportunities pass you by. That’s why I’m delighted I’ll be taking part in training today attending the RIBA CPD Forum. It’s great to have a chance to invest in my own development. I’ll be learning new ways to use the platform to provide the best, most relevant, CPD I can to our partners. So it’s a day for my own personal development but means I’ll be thinking about passing on that learning to others too. I love a win-win. #CPD #alwayslearning #careergrowth #RIBA #architects #buildingexcellenceinsideandout

There is a stark difference in the Gurukul system of education and the Western system which we have implemented since the British Raj. The Gurukul system allowed for the *theoretical* and practical learnings to occur simultaneously. it was a much longer system, and required complete dedication of the learners and teachers. it also led to a deep, intellectually intimate relationship, and as a result, the knowledge passed from one generation to another in a seamless and most original way possible. The Western system seems to resolve the issue of time and provides a lot more comfort to the educator and student both. Learning time is limited not just to a few years for certification, it also limits the number of hours dedicated everyday. As a result, it makes the education process a lot more commercialized. It also takes away the possibilities that the original method of transfer of knowledge fostered. #education #marketing #architecture
Story IV : Basic Education Architectural education cultivates curiosity and critical thinking in students. It trains them to identify unseen elements, fostering a unique perspective that shapes their designs and future careers. In this story, Professor Ar. Nachiket Kalle and Ar. Chitra Vishwanath discuss how architecture as a course paves the journey as a student invests all their energy into unlearning what 12 years of the westernized educational system has taught them. #importanceofdesign #architecturalimpact #careerpaths #architecturerecruitment #architalent #architecturaleducation #designeducation #shapingdesigners https://lnkd.in/dB8HmQhk
