Dealing with investor queries is an essential part of the fundraising process, which takes time and energy, and is best supported by colleagues. Expect a barrage of tough questions, and less than flattering feedback about your pitch, your business model and even your team’s credentials. Before you launch your campaign, seek out a friendly investor who can look over your pitch materials with a kind, but critical eye, and give you feedback. Some very simple investor outreach tips here. Always remember - your pitch deck exists almost ENTIRELY just to get you a meeting with the investor. It doesn't have to be stuffed full of info (they won't read it all) it should be snappy, enticing, compelling and just informative enough to grab the attention. THEN you meet them, THEN you "close the deal"!

Each day this week I will dive into one reason why unpacking your fund name to LPs is a better pitch than your pitch deck. Reason 3.: "It shows you are commercially minded. Michael Str?ck, from Allocator One, who anchors first-time managers before anybody else does, correctly emphasizes that the special 3% of GPs are uniquely marked by a commercial mindset. Leading with the name of your fund, shows you are about building a business, not your personal brand. There are a few GPs that I associate more with the firm they are building than with themselves personally and their personal brand- that’s a signal amongst noise.
