As we embark on Black History Month, let's keep in mind the theme for this year: Reclaiming Narratives. This theme marks a significant shift towards recognizing and correcting the narratives of Black history and culture. Let's embrace the power of sharing our stories, allegories, and history. It's time for institutions such as schools to showcase the rich heritage of black history and celebrate its significance. This theme is a commitment to correcting historical inaccuracies and showcasing the untold success stories and the full complexity of Black heritage. It’s about taking control of our stories and honouring our heroes while challenging the narratives that have often overlooked the contributions and achievements of Black individuals, both in the UK and globally. #ReclaimingNarratives

Black Joy is a symbol of hope and empowerment for Black individuals amidst racial challenges. It affirms that they are not just survivors but also thriving agents of change. This spirit has been a source of strength and motivation throughout history. It carried enslaved African ancestors through unimaginable trials, believing that future generations would reap the seeds of freedom they sowed. At #America250, we celebrate Black Joy as a reflection of life, culture, and community. It's about finding positivity and support within ourselves and those around us. It's also a way of healing and resting our body, mind, and spirit. During this #BlackHistoryMonth, we invite you to join us in recognizing and honoring Black Joy. It's not just a concept. It's a movement, a celebration of being, and a legacy that we carry forward. While the schools and banks claim Black History is learned only during one month, I feel very differently. Black history should be celebrated every day, and it is a priority for me and my team to consistently be elevating the black voices in my community and learning where our gaps are to better serve our clients. If you are an advisor (or client!) looking for resources on how to improve your inclusivity and support, here are a few I have found very helpful: - https://lnkd.in/e-RsTGhf -I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou - How to explain Black History to Your Children https://lnkd.in/eMxNRXTD Any resources you would like to add? This month, we celebrate Black history, contributions, and achievements.?While we honour these legacies, it's crucial to remember why Black history must be highlighted. For centuries, Black stories were erased, misrepresented, or silenced. That’s why this year’s Black History Month theme,?‘Reclaiming Narratives,’?holds so much significance. By honouring silenced voices and amplifying truth, we can challenge the misconceptions and reclaim the powerful narratives that have shaped our world. This month and every month, we commit to reclaiming our narratives from hate, violence and oppression. Let’s honour Black history by shaping a future where Black voices are no longer silenced. Join us in celebrating, learning, and uplifting the stories that need to be heard.?#AnthonyWalkerFoundation #BlackHistoryMonth #ReclaimingNarratives #AntiRacism #AmplifyTruth #HonorBlackVoices

Black history. Celebrated every February. Originally in America. And now, by the whole world. But most people don’t realise that this is a problem. Black Americans make up only 4% of the world's Black population (1.2 billion), and yet America is seen as the benchmark for Blackness by most people in the Western world. Why should we only celebrate our universal Blackness in one month of the year when we are who we are every day? Just as we believe there is no "i" in "thjnk", we have a campaign for the true representation of ALL Black people to change this cultural perspective. Introducing #blackthinkers, a film that challenges the current narrative around the celebration of Black history with an encouraging new message: Black history is every single day. Link with explanation in the comments.

What if I told you that your influence and support is oft times worth more than what’s in your bank account? As we continue to celebrate black history month, while we need more people to speak up, we are grateful for those who have consistently used their voices and resources to effect change and progress along the way. If you desire to support and help improve outcomes for the black community here as a few ways you can help: 1) Be courageous and speak up when you see that something isn’t right. 2) Research and educate yourself rather than assume. 3) Share the information you learn with those that share your identity. - - #blackhistorymonth #keynotespeaker #GoGrowGlow
