?? International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict ?? On this significant day, let’s shed light on the devastating impact of sexual violence in conflict zones, particularly on women and children. ???? ?? Disproportionate Impact on Women and Girls: Women and girls bear the brunt of conflict-related sexual violence, accounting for over 95% of UN-verified cases. Men and boys also suffer, albeit to a lesser extent. ?? Health Consequences: Sexual violence leaves lasting scars on survivors’ physical, sexual, reproductive, and mental health. Victims face increased risks of sexually transmitted infections, unwanted pregnancies, and infertility. The trauma can reverberate across generations, affecting families and communities. ?? Social Fabric and Livelihoods: Beyond health, sexual violence shatters the social fabric of communities. It curtails women’s livelihoods and disrupts girls’ education. Armed groups profit from conflict-driven human trafficking for sexual exploitation1. # Urgent Call for Action: Let’s demand urgent action to combat conflict-related sexual violence. Hospitals and healthcare facilities must be safe havens for survivors, providing healing and support. Together, we can raise awareness, advocate for survivors, and work towards a world free from this heinous violence. ???? #EndSexualViolenceInConflict #HealthForAll #conflict #healthforall #publichealth #globalhealth #womenandreproductivehealth #immunization #endconflcit ,#HIV ,#infectousdisease #violence #sexualviolence

That’s why an #intersectionalist approach to integratedly address #GBV and #violence against #children should be mainstreamed in all #policy responses in #protection systems across the entirety of relevant fields.
?? Global estimates suggest that more than half of the world’s children aged 2-17 experienced physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse during the past year, and that 1 in 4 children under the age of 5 live with a mother who has experienced intimate partner violence. We know that violence against children and violence against women are intimately connected in many ways - yet we don't know enough about what interventions can help prevent both of these forms of violence. This is why we partnered with the World Health Organization and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) to ask policy makers, practitioners, advocates, and survivors from 50 countries: What kind of knowledge could help us simultaneously reduce violence against children and women and respond to survivors’ needs? Find out more about the shared global research agenda and the research priorities identified, here:?https://uni.cf/43ijmpv Avni Amin,?Elizabeth Dartnall,?Claudia Garcia Moreno,?Floriza Freire Gennari, DrPH,?Anik Gevers, and?Alessandra Guedes. #endviolence
