There are so many things that inspire me. Yesterday was one of those, I realize that the Tourism Sector is not a just a good story, but it has been a story of great human resilience. Gastronomy has been in our DNA for a long time and when I had an opportunity to talk to some young chefs who at the epicentre of making our fine cuisines which drive our economies in every sector possible my message to them was this. Every industry, uses gastronomy to perfect itself, because a hungry staff member cannot operate and a staff member or a tourist both love our culture. Through food we exude passion, we exude culture, we exude what connects us as the world. In aviation and tourism these are the things that drive people to take that first step of defining their unique experiences which they want to learn and drives the tourist to book a flight and come and see if for themselves. At the heart of this, is the gastronomy of it all. I further on went to talk about how our cultures make us so unique and what hotels, restaurants, aviation, cruise industries have perfected this to create very curated experiences for their audiences. Gastronomy is what brings the passion in our very industry. I am in awe of the message which says, we are many voices but we all have one purpose. Planning ahead can be great, allowing you to cast a wide net and hit the ground running or eating, depending on how you’d like to look at it. But not planning and going with the flow can also result in fun and interesting experiences. So which one best describes you? Do you like to pre-plan restaurants and other food experiences when you travel, or are you the type to wing it? On my recent trip to Italy, we did a combination of both -- pre-planned some restaurants and found some that looked (smelled) appealing as we walked by.
