Sustainability has been a priority for the transport and logistics industry, but the progress has been slow. CO2 emissions from road freight transport have increased by over 20% since 1995, despite the increased efficiency of vehicles. The industry needs a significant reduction to meet climate targets. The pandemic has also highlighted the importance of the industry in establishing robust transport chains while providing compatible transport solutions to flatten the climate curve. #Sustainability #TransportIndustry #ClimateChange

Optimizing the movement of goods can reduce vehicle miles traveled and therefore reduce emissions by up to 15 percent - and can compound over time - according to the U.S. National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization (https://lnkd.in/eTxFVgCM). That means solutions to increase convenience for people by reducing excess movements on our roads like truck deadheads makes sense, as do more efficient trips like protected bike lanes for cargo e-bikes, and cleaner options for our medium and heavy duty freight as well. We receive resources from the EPA to benchmark our carbon footprint against companies with a similar freight footprint and logistical challenges.
