Autonomously Track Down Wildfires?is bringing together incredible innovators from TracksNA, L5VEL, Skyfire, W.S. Darley, Blueforce Development, Emergent, Additive at Scale, and our Wildfire Advisory Council. XPRIZE Wildfire is a 4-year, $11 million competition incentivizing the innovation of firefighting technologies that will end destructive wildfires so that humanity and beneficial wildfire can safely co-exist. The prize aims to transform current wildfire management approaches through the development of new technologies that can rapidly and accurately detect, characterize, and respond to wildfires before they become destructive. The FireSwarm Solutions Inc, Exo Drone and ACC Innovation AB consortium is learning, sharing, and collaborating with a community of passionate innovators—all towards a common goal. And it's powerful. Grateful for the inspiring discussions and team presentations by Think Circuits Engineers and N5 Sensors, Inc. Today's panel discussion "Opportunities and challenges of modern fire management" allowed us the opportunity to get a peak inside the unique needs and challenges of fire agencies like Unified Fire Authority, The State of Utah Department of Natural Resources, Wildland Fire Solutions at Esri, and Wildfire Industry Collective. ?? Just a few of the key takeaways: – Wildfire organizations are recognizing that #wildfiretech can act as a powerful force multiplier. – Building trust and offering proven, dependable solutions is crucial. – In the past two decades, 80 pilot fatalities have occurred during wildfire incidents. As flight hours increase, so does the associated risk—prompting an increased appetite for change. – The potential for technology to drive positive impact in this space is immense. #XPRIZEWildfire teams are developing innovative technologies to put an end to destructive wildfires. ?? The winning technology in the Space-Based Wildfire Detection and Intelligence Track, presented by the Minderoo Foundation, will address the greatest barrier to how we currently fight fires by rapidly and accurately detecting all fires across a vast and remote area and transmitting data to ground stations. ?? The winning technology in the Autonomous Wildfire Response Track will transform how fires are managed and fought by rapidly and autonomously detecting and completely suppressing a destructive, high-risk fire in an environmentally challenging area with dramatically greater speed, accuracy, and precision than current best-in-class solutions, leaving any decoy fires untouched. #ICYMI, check out the Qualified Team cohorts for both tracks below.
