When working in customer service and sales, there will be days where customers will not be happy and will treat you and your fellow colleagues with disrespect. Let the bad comments from customers go and focus on what is right and how you can be a positive influence for those people who trust and believe in you. Never underestimate your value and the impact you have with your customers, because as a salesperson you can provide many exciting opportunities for yourself and your customers.

In my early career, I was in logistics sales. I was always trying to stay a step ahead and think what I was going to say next. After all, I had an agenda to close the sale. I soon learned that in order to make that sale, I had to first listen for understanding. It was working as a sales manager in a Temp Agency when it really resided with me to solve the customer’s problem. Once you identified the “pain” of the customer by listening and asking questions, you were able to offer solutions with your product or service. This can be applied in everyday communication, personal and professional. #patience #listening #understanding #solutionsbased

Sales in logistics, and sales in general, has a lot to do with timing. Successful reps understand that when you get a "No", it does not mean *never, it usually just means "Not at this time." I first connected with this prospect roughly 2 years ago and had a great conversation, but she told me they were not planning to bring on any new carriers any time soon. Since then, I have been staying in touch, learning about her, her family, what she enjoys, and really just staying relevant. Yesterday I got hit with this email. Now it is just a matter of time before we get this company onboarded as a customer. The harder an account is to get, the harder an account is to lose! #logisticssales #sales
