MY FIRST LISTING IS AN INCREDIBLE STORY - PLEASE READ & SHARE THIS ONE ?? My first listing is at 715 22nd St in Union City, an 8-unit building. Last Friday, I got the offering memorandum back and was pumped. I put it in the family group chat to show my parents and brothers what I’m working on. The next morning, my mom calls me, almost in tears, and says, “Eddie, you’re not going to believe this.” Turns out, when my mom first met my dad, he and his entire family were living in this exact building. She started sharing memories—celebrating birthdays in that small apartment and sitting on the front steps watching the neighborhood kids play. It was where they built their lives when they first arrived in this country. In the early 1980s, when my dad first came to this country, he lived in this building, working to bring over his 6 siblings one by one, with nothing but determination and the dream of a better life. And now, here I am, decades later, with my first listing—the very building where my dad’s journey in America began. Out of tens of thousands of calls, hundreds of conversations, and countless moments of putting myself out there… it all led to this one listing. My dad started here with $0, and now, years later, I’ve found my way back to it, and it’s on the market for $1.35 million. I had no idea they ever even lived in Union City. All of this was brand new to me—an insane coincidence or the universe telling us we’re doing something right. What are the chances? I get goosebumps even typing this out. Life really does come full circle sometimes. Here is a little story. Zoe and I connected over LinkedIn about 1 year ago. I was inspired by her passion and care for the elderly, in a world where often retired people are seen as expired. There is so much knowledge to leverage from older people and so much we can all learn. We will all get there, however we don't think much about it. As I engaged on one of her posts, we immediately found common interests and had a strong connection. It was Sunday morning. We exchanged messages on LinkedIn, we jumped on the phone, and we found a lot of common interests. We kept exchanging texts from time to time. On Tuesday, we met in person for the first time. It was beautiful, and I am grateful! Rosie's Roadshow is a beautiful project, that creates communities of like-minded people, brings people and businesses together, creates conversations, brings joy and awareness about retirement, and most importantly creates deeper connections through conversation, play, and education. Rosie's Roadshow is at its beginning, and I have no doubt it will be very successful. From this story, my key takes away are 1. When we connect deep, we communicate 2. When we care, we make a difference 3. When we make a difference life is much better for everyone, and friendships arise. You can be a stranger to someone you spent years working with, or you can be friends with someone you spent a few hours with. It goes back to synergy and values. I cannot wait to see more of this, and I know Zo? Share and Amy Altwerger have something unique to give to our communities.
