#Far North region Cameroon, #refugee camp. war is not a good thing, children, young girls and women are suffering. Refugees have limited access to education, healthcare services, protection services, shelter, economic empowerment etc. The right to education for every child is like an illusion to these kids, they will only be told about the lives they had to live if they were still in their communities in Nigeria. If only they were lucky to have parents, some are there with no family members, while others ,their family is missing. Now the question is what is the government of #Nigeria and that of #cameroon going for these refugees to return? if they can't go back now, how can they sustainably help them. I use the word sustainable because it's not about the distribution of non-food and non food items from time to time, but support that can transcend a week or month. support that enables them to support themselves in the long run. In Burkina Faso, ongoing violence and insecurity have forced 2.1 million people to flee their homes since 2019. The closure of nearly a quarter of all schools has left more than one million children without access to education. Since 2020, ICMC has supported its national member, the Episcopal Commission for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Refugees (CEPMR), in providing safe learning environments for displaced children. At three Child-Friendly Spaces in Bourzanga, Karangasso, and Bama, children aged 3-6 engage in early education, psychosocial support, and recreational activities that help them build resilience. Today, we celebrate Humanitarian Day, a time to recognize the unsung heroes dedicating their lives to improving the lives of others. In Malawi, where over 40% of girls are married before 18, child marriage remains a humanitarian crisis. These marriages cut short a girl's education, expose her to early pregnancies, and increase the likelihood of poverty for generations to come. How can we address this? - Educate communities on the long-term benefits of girls’ education. - Engage leaders to enforce laws that protect children. - Support programs offering vocational skills to young girls. Ending child marriage is a collective responsibility. Providing Humanitarian Aid in Northwestern Nigeria Project (PHAINN) 1.0 In collaboration with Bayero University Law Clinic (BULC), Health Care Intervention for Victims of Gender BiolenViolence, CELOHA Nigeria & Save the Children Educational and Development Foundation Is dedicated to supporting internally displaced families and Communities in Northwestern Nigeria have been devastated by escalating violence, of banditary and kidnapping, forcing families to flee their homes and seek refuge in makeshift settlements. These internally displaced persons (IDPs) are facing severe shortages of food, clean water, and basic healthcare, with women and children being the most vulnerable. On September 29th, at 9:00 am, we will be distributing relief materials to 100 families at the Kuyan Ta Inna IDP Settlement. Our initiatives include: 1. Education support, 2. ?Menstrual hygiene sensitization, 3. ?Sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) awareness. 4. ? Providing financial assistance to empower 10 women in business. Can training on social emotional skills development and positive discipline and classroom strategies help? DAY 2: "STOP HUMAN TRAFFICKING NOW" Campaign 2025 Children (boys and girls) are the most vulnerable population in every society. In Africa, the situation is even more severe as family breakdowns and child poverty is high. As a result, child trafficking (for labour and sexual exploitation) and child domestics is high and a major concern. This is clearly evidenced in the United States Department of States (USDOS) 2024 Trafficking In Persons (TIP) Report on Ghana and Africa. In response to this, YORI -Youth Rise International has designed specific child trafficking prevention intervention that target vulnerable boys and girls in rural communities and educate them on the basics of child trafficking and child labour. Through such child-friendly empowerment, these vulnerable boys and girls are able to spot signs of trafficking and able to resist any attempt for trafficking. This is a sustainable approach to ending child trafficking in Ghana and across Africa. The impacts stories from our work is clear evidence of the effectiveness of our model.
