Everyone keeps claiming the role of a customer service representative but what is it actually about………… In my experience as a customer service representative I can say that a customer service representative is the window of how customer perceive a company. If your customer service representative are not representating your company well you can loose your loyal customers and also perspective customers, or haven’t you heard when someone says “I love their product but their customer service is bad for this reason I would not be patronizing them again” as a result the company is loosing in both customers and sales. Who is a Customer Service Specialist? Do years of experience in a Customer Service role count when looking out for a Specialist? Customer Service is beyond achieving one’s target in the workplace. It goes beyond making a customer laugh and ensuring they are happy while interacting with them. In the face of a challenge within your company’s complaint resolving channels, and you, having a lot of customers who need thier complaints resolved; What you do at this point determines if you are a Customer Service Specialist or just another employee. ??Empathy: As a customer oriented specialist, Your first duty is to empathize. You must be able to show genuine concern with the customer, this alone will drive you to go out of your way to ensure complaints are resolved. Outside your normal duty of logging complaints and channeling them to the appropriate department, Ensuring these tasks are resolved and providing feedback to the customer is your role. ??Get it done: While some people in the service industry resort to blaming different departments within the industry or simply blaming the Management during a challenge, The Customer Service Specialist takes ownership of the situation and handles it like it was their personal problem. Ability to posess a sense of completion for tasks and willingness to repeat it for all customers is key for a Customer Service Specialist. ??Exceed Expectations: Continue to exceed customer expectations until you see it as a norm.
