RIP, scaling laws. A dense 70B model, at no 5, outsmarting several expensive and “smarter” models. This model one can literally run on 2 Nvidia 3090s, possibly sufficing most of the applications. Thats what I like tk see. #Meta just sinplified choice for even large enterprises when it comes to model selection, scale and cost for almost all use cases ( except the ones which require multi-modality, for time being). #Llama3

Maybe YouTube would probably never do this, but throwing it out there, as an idea. I hope YouTube introduces a feature (maybe only for Premium, whatever) that upscales videos 1080p & below to 4K through the “video settings” cog, enabled globally for all videos, regardless of their original upload resolution, maybe sometime in the future when AI upscalers are good enough. 4K is the future and watching older videos of creators who don’t maintain their channels anymore, at 480p on 4K screens is just bad user experience. 2-3 years ago, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I think ever since COVID, they introduced some new compression algorithm in the background that makes even 1080p look blurry. 720p, even worse. I can upscale easily using the NVIDIA RTX enhance feature on my PC, but my Mac or my phone don’t really offer that same functionality, which I think maybe a "royalty" feature right now, but would be extremely useful in the future for video archival purposes. Maybe adding a caution message that says "hey this video was originally uploaded in XYZp, 4K upscaling might introduce unnecessary artifacts" at the top of the video would be enough to notify users that it _could_ be a good experience but expect some inconsistencies from original content. Just something I guess that would benefit a lot of YouTube users (as well as drive growth of the Premium consumer base, 'cause who doesn't want to use AI these days?). NVIDIA VSR is good, but I wish available to all, and I understand that the YouTube library is HUGE, and maybe the infrastructure costs won't justify the final results, but one can hope!
