Exciting to see Bute Energy Net Zero Skills strategy launch. We must seize the new job opportunities presented by the need to reach net zero by making sure we have a long term plan for developing the skills needed to fill these jobs. My analysis as the last Future Generations Commissioner for Wales showed that we had significant skillls gaps across a range of Lowe carbon jobs and so its could to see the private sector stepping up to the challenge on how we fill these gaps and improve the lives of people in Wales

How my interest came about on clean tech, climate tech and digital technologies? Why did I start a Digital platform hub focusing on Clean tech? I created my account 3 years back 2021 early. With no interest whatsoever about what I really wanted to pursue(career wise), but I knew that I wanted to grow my network to engage myself in climate advocacy for I was already doing that, on Twitter. I had this passion since primary where I would engage in the celebration of Arbor days. But also a year after (2022)I lost motivation of what I actually stand for, I also got an opportunity in a mining industry as a trainee. So I looked at it in a way that maybe what I stand for, isn't really what I should be pursuing. Funny fact "this part of my life, also helped me grow interest in Environmental management and policy. Which I then decided to apply at varsity for my NQF level5 in life and environmental science to qualify to study BArts in Environmental management." So i stopped my engagement on climate advocacy. Logged out on Twitter and LinkedIn was just another existing app on my phone. Whenever I would get notifications I didn't really cared, left some dms unread. And 2 years later again(this year) I'm back, firstly I decided to check all the messages I left on unread and some I answered not really caring but just not to seem mean. And going through them I saw the opportunities I missed... Dr. Igor V. Gladkov inviting me to join the EUTECH Aliance group, Bjorn-Soren Gigler, PhD inviting me to partake in Digital for sustainability networking and webinars, Mario Verissimo Horta Lopes approaching me about his nanotechnology project (just to name a few). Well going through all that I also realized that technology initiatives are part of the forefront solutions mitigating climate change for a sustainable future and that eased up my years of eco-anxiety! But also grew my curiosity on CleanTech and ClimateTech. So I developed an interest to know more and create a platform for other genZ's to learn and engage and that's how the #Hearmeoutcleantech_hub was founded... It was like a calling all these years... I guess.

Green skills are the backbone of a sustainable future, with technical expertise and soft skills crucial for navigating eco-friendly technologies. Young people are increasingly drawn to the prospect of green jobs, but many barriers obstruct their path. For many young people, particularly those from marginalised backgrounds, accessing green opportunities is a challenge. The hurdles include additional training costs, such as the need for specialised work attire or access to digital devices, high entry requirements demanding relevant degrees or extensive volunteering experience, and physical access barriers in areas with poor transport links. Addressing these barriers is not only a matter of improving life chances but also a strategic move to meet national skills shortages and speed up the transition to a net-zero economy. By breaking down these obstacles, we can unlock the potential of young individuals, equipping them with green skills that enhance their employability and life chances. ????
