The EU has taken note of Ukraine’s success in the Kursk region; Russia is preparing to liberate its territories.?EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Maternova warns Western experts against criticizing the actions of Ukraine’s military in the Kursk region. At the GLOBSEC Forum?2024?conference, she emphasized that the Armed Forces’s offensive into Russian territory has already delivered tangible results. These results include a change in the West’s narrative regarding the war, a growth in morale, and the replenishment of the prisoner exchange fund. "It changed the dynamics of the war," the ambassador added. Meanwhile, for the first time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg?commented?on Ukraine's operation in the Kursk region and noted that it complies with the right to self-defense. At the same time, ISW analysts?said?that Russian authorities are already creating new volunteer territorial defense units in response to the Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk region. So here’s the main 2024 NATO “strategic” trifecta: 1. Extra tens of billions of dollars in “assistance” to the upcoming rump Ukraine; the overwhelming majority of these funds will be slushing around the industrial-military money laundering complex. 2. Forceful imposition of extra military spending on all members. 3. Massive hyping up of the “China threat”.

As?is his custom, he?describes the reality of?the conflict in?Ukraine and the state of?Ukrainian and Russian troops without exaggeration. General ?edivy discusses, among other topics, the fundamental mistakes made by?the Ukrainian side, the futility of?the Kursk operation, and the involvement of?North Korean troops, which, in?his view, does not constitute a?significant escalation.

#RadioMoskva Drawing Article 5 lines for Ukraine to end the war Everyone is fed up with the war in Ukraine, and starting to finally admit is unwinnable. But that has been clear for more than a year now, since the failure of Ukraine’s 2023 summer offensive. It’s looking increasingly likely that ceasefire talks could happen soon, but what would that look like? Firstly, it’s a given that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy will have to give up some land, and has already floated the idea of areferendum?to get a mandate from the people for that. But there is also increasing talk about a “West German” solution, where after unification Nato membership covered the western half of the country, but not the eastern. A similar deal could be in store of Ukraine: where the western half of the country is pulled into the Western brotherhood, but the eastern half remains in Russian hands, and disputed.?

The risk of Moscow invading the Baltic States is growing rapidly. Rashists would not need a large group to do so. The invasion could be supported by pro-Russian movements within Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. They are present in all three countries. The occupation could be carried out quickly enough to give the US no time for a timely response. And the EU's pace of response has traditionally left much to be desired. Russia would quickly form new authorities under its control, as it did in the 1940s. And NATO will face the need to de-occupy the three countries, with significant support for the occupation within. As a result, the North Atlantic Alliance will face a dilemma: either a de-occupation operation or negotiations with an aggressor who will ‘trade’ the Baltics for a foothold in Ukraine. Existing NATO contingents in these countries will be blocked and will become hostages because of their small numbers. The only way to mitigate these risks is to increase the US contingent on the bloc's eastern borders to Cold War size. Go for escalation for the sake of de-escalation. The ideal time to make such a decision is the NATO summit in Washington on 9-11 July. Source:?Reuters, with reference to Kaupo Rosin, the chief of the intelligence service, reported by European Pravda Details:?At a press conference, Kaupo Rosin noted that this assessment is based on Russia's plans to double the number of troops deployed along the border with #Finland, as well as #Estonia, #Lithuania and #Latvia. "Russia has chosen a path which is a long-term confrontation ... and the Kremlin is probably anticipating a possible conflict with NATO within the next decade or so," he said. He believes that a military attack by Russia is "highly unlikely" in the short term, partly because Moscow is forced to keep troops in Ukraine, and will remain unlikely if the Russian military build-up is matched by the build-up in #Europe. Speaking about the Russian war against #Ukraine, Rosin noted that he believes it is unlikely that Russian occupation forces will make a significant breakthrough before the Russian presidential elections, as Russia will need to mobilise significantly more troops to achieve its goals.
