Thank you to the dedicated volunteers of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Middlesex County County for coming out on a cold night to learn about preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse through our KNOW & TELL training! One participant provided this feedback: "Know and Tell training is the best of its kind I've attended during my work with youth since 1997." This interactive, 2.5 hour training is free to participants, and covers a variety of important subject areas including signs and symptoms of child abuse and neglect, steps adults can take to keep children safe, online dangers and safety precautions, what to do if a child discloses to you that they are being abused, how to make a report to the child abuse hotline, and what happens after a report is made. It is appropriate for all adults who work or interact with children, and particularly appropriate for youth-serving organizations. To schedule a training for your group or organization, email [email protected].

New publication??When a child experiences abuse or harm online it can be challenging to know the best way to respond. My team’s latest publication shares insights on responses to children experiencing online harm and abuse. This uses data from contacts to Childline and NSPCC Helpline in 23/24. By understanding the responses children are receiving we can better understand what a “good” response looks like. You might have seen it in NSPCC Learning’s CASPAR newsletter today or you can read it in full on the NSPCC Learning website. https://lnkd.in/emQPbAiW #ChildSafetyOnline #Insights #OnlineSafety #Childline #NSPCC

The safety and well-being of children and youth is everyone’s responsibility, and as someone who works and interacts with young people on a regular basis, you have a particularly important role to play. Whether you’re a sports coach, day home or daycare professional, camp counsellor, library staff, or any kind of volunteer or professional who works directly with children and youth, by learning how to recognize signs of abuse and what to do about it, you are taking an important step in keeping them safe. Our Recognizing, Reporting, and Responding to Child Abuse video will help you recognize signs of abuse and know what to do if you suspect a child is experiencing abuse at home, and what to expect once you report your suspicions to Children and Family Services. How can parents and coaches determine when a child’s concussion needs professional attention? This Australian app thinks it has the solution. Created with the backing of the AFL, HeadCheck helps worried parents, coaches and first aiders monitor symptoms in children following a minor head injury or concussion. According to their research, around a third of parents claim to not know enough about concussions. Is this a good idea for improving access to resources and raising awareness? #concussion #tbi #childrenshealth #firstaid
