We are proud to partner with hunters, wild game processors, and food banks to help feed Tennesseans in need. It is especially heartening to see so many hunters step up during archery season to send venison to communities in East Tennessee recovering from Hurricane Helene.

Did you know one deer equates to around 168 servings of lean, high protein meat? For over 25 years, the Tennessee Wildlife Federation's Hunters for the Hungry has been partnering with certified wild game processors and food banks like Second Harvest to provide meat for our community while managing the state's deer herd. "Meat is scarce in tragedy," says Matt Simcox, manager of the organization. "Hunting can be controversial, but feeding [people] never is." Matt encourages hunters to donate their deer, and raises funds to cover the processing. Due to his call for action following Hurricane Helene, Hunters for the Hungry was able to donate 4,500 pounds of venison to Second Harvest, which will be distributed to affected areas. Hunters for the Hungry just surpassed 10 million servings of deer donated this year. Thank you for helping us fight hunger and feed hope!
