We're excited to share that our founder, Cindy Nie, recently spoke at the University of Washington's MBA class on Angel Investing, lectured by the wonderful Minda Brusse. Cindy shared a story that has deeply impacted her journey. As an associate field education professor (part-time), she has guided many students who are eager to become great therapists. However, there’s one moment she can never forget—an experience that continuously drives her to innovate. While preparing them for their first encounters with mental health clients, one student confided in Cindy about their nervousness and feeling of unpreparedness. Despite doing everything they could, such as acquiring the necessary theoretical knowledge and observing in therapy sessions, they never experienced as a therapist engage with patients. When faced with actual patients, they feared that all the knowledge they had learned would slip away, leaving only nervousness in its place. This conversation leads her to realize a significant gap in the current education system for therapists — the need for a safe, convenient environment for students to practice. This realization fueled the foundation of Tmind AI.
