Pumpkin ?? spice (which typically contains cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves and sometimes allspice) is ubiquitous this time of year. When Starbucks sought to create a flagship fall beverage, legend says they were drinking espresso ? and enjoying pumpkin pie ?? and brainstorming how to transform the combination of a warm coffee and tasty dessert. Then in 2003, the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte was born, and it quickly became their customers’ favorite seasonal ?? beverage. Competitors took note of the phenomenon and flavor chemists ???? went to work on creating similar beverage concepts. In the process, it was discovered ?? in 2015 that the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte contained no actual #pumpkin.
