Thank you to Emma Silverman at TMV (a Tinyhood investor) for shedding light on how social determinants of health (transportation, housing instability, financial strain, etc), which account for as much as 80% of health outcomes, lead to profound healthcare inequities in the U.S. -- and how innovative digital health companies such as Tinyhood, Inc. are now shifting these long-standing trends. At Tinyhood, Inc., we are championing a transformative approach to maternal and infant health education with our digital on-demand learning experience that improves maternal health outcomes such as reduced c-sections, fewer postpartum complications, and higher breastfeeding rates. Through our partnerships with health systems, Medicaid plans, employers, and more we are giving parents access to the high-quality education and resources ALL families deserve. Excited for what's to come! https://lnkd.in/gTZJemZJ

The first step in prioritizing health equity is understanding it. That's why UnitedHealthcare is vocal about our support and the projects underway to promote it. This is an excellent read that helps clear the air. #HealthEquity #Healthcare #HealthSystems
Health equity is a state in which all people can live their healthiest lives. Much of the opposition I see to health equity programs is based on misunderstanding. It's not about exclusion. It's about closing existing gaps. Mari Devereaux comments, "Health equity programs aren’t giving more care to one patient versus another based on race or ethnicity...they are identifying high-risk patients with a likelihood for poor outcomes, who are often people of color, and putting together resources to help those individuals get the same care as others." At their core, health equity initiatives aim to make the health system work better for everyone. UnitedHealthcare will continue to optimize health by providing people with the care and support they need. #HealthEquity #HealthLeaders #HealthSystem #Healthcare #Understanding

? Advancing Women's Health Through ?????????????????????? ???????? The health care needs of women in the U.S. are urgent and complex, yet our current system often falls short. The U.S. has some of the worst maternal health outcomes among high-income countries, and women are more likely to delay preventive care, take on caregiving roles, and experience chronic conditions like dementia. Deep disparities in access, quality, and outcomes across race, ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status further underscore the need for change. Accountable care offers a promising way forward. By moving beyond fee-for-service models, accountable care prioritizes health outcomes and patient experiences—aligning with what patients want most: care that puts them first. We call this “Patient-First Care”. Last month, we partnered with Accountable for Health and the National Partnership for Women & Families to host a virtual Congressional briefing, "Advancing Women’s Health & Patient-First Care Through Innovation & Payment Reform." Experts like Dr. Kristin Oaks, Lisa Hunter, and Dr. Carol Sakala shared patient stories and policy insights, underscoring how accountable care models are improving women’s health across all stages of life. ?? Highlights include: ???????????????? ???????????? ????????????: Addressing the maternal health crisis with the upcoming CMMI Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model, which promotes patient-first, high-quality care for mothers and newborns. ???????????????? ????????: Leveraging the CMS GUIDE Model to improve dementia care coordination, a vital need for women, who are disproportionately affected. ???????????? ????????????: Encouraging federal and state leaders to support payment reforms that foster quality, equity, and access to patient-centered care. Patient-first care has the power to improve health outcomes across women’s lifespans. As we continue advocating for these reforms, we need to work together to ensure every woman receives the high-quality, compassionate care she deserves. Check the comments for the link to our blog ?

https://lnkd.in/gUiHvcRD Navigating Healthcare Challenges in an Aging America As the US #population ages at an unprecedented rate, our #healthcaresystem is at a critical juncture. By 2030, all #babyboomers will be older than 65, posing unique challenges due to increased #demand for complex #healthcare needs and a significant strain on healthcare #resources. The current system is #fragmented and #inefficient, #underprepared for the rising #healthcaredemands of the #elderlypopulation. Critical issues include: 1). Healthcare Workforce #Shortages: A predicted shortfall of up to 139,000 physicians by 2033 threatens the quality and accessibility of healthcare. 2). Increasing #Chronic Conditions: 88% of older adults suffer from multiple chronic conditions, necessitating complex and #coordinatedcare strategies. 3). Economic Impact: Escalating #healthcarecosts are expected to consume a larger share of #GDP, with significant implications for #economicstability. Innovative Solutions Needed: To address these challenges, we need bold policy reforms and innovative #healthcaremodels that enhance #efficiency and #equity. The focus must be on integrating #technology, improving #provider distribution, and expanding #homebasedcare to meet the needs of this growing #demographic effectively. Call to Action: This pressing issue requires urgent dialogue and collaboration among healthcare #stakeholders to drive systemic changes. Let's prioritize #restructuring our #healthcaresystem to provide responsive and sustainable care for our #aging population. #HealthcareReform #AgingPopulation #InnovationInCare #PolicyChange #HealthcareChallenges

Navigating the complexities of an aging society poses unprecedented challenges and opportunities for the healthcare system in the United States. "Healthcare on the Brink: Navigating the Challenges of an Aging Society in the United States," a newly published commentary in npj Aging (Nature Portfolio), thoughtfully addresses these critical issues. Authored by Charles Jones and Mikael Dolsten of Pfizer, the piece outlines the pressing need for a healthcare system that is not just more efficient and equitable but significantly more responsive to our aging population's growing demands. At Bulmore Consulting, we are honored to have provided editorial support and strategic insights to help shape this impactful work. Special thanks go to our team members, Marie Beitelshees and Andrew Hill, for their contributions to this effort. This article is essential reading for anyone involved in healthcare policy, geriatric care, or anyone interested in understanding the significant implications of an aging population on the US healthcare system. #thoughtleadership #publichealth #agingpopulation #policyreform #npjaging #editorialservices #bulmore

The Commonwealth Fund recently published a data-driven report on the healthcare disparities along racial lines in the U.S. that I highly recommend. It is entitled "Advancing Racial Equity in U.S. Health Care". Well worth the read. It comes with a boat-load of downloadable data, presentation slides, and more. Here is a leading paragraph describing their findings: Profound racial and ethnic disparities in health, well-being, and life expectancy have long been the norm in the United States. These disparities are especially stark for Black and AIAN people, who live fewer years, on average, than white and Hispanic people?and are more likely to die from treatable conditions, more likely to die during or after pregnancy and suffer serious pregnancy-related complications, more likely to lose children in infancy,?and are at higher risk for many chronic health conditions, from diabetes to hypertension. The COVID-19 pandemic only made things worse. Its disproportionate impact on Black, Hispanic, and AIAN people caused a sharper decline in average life expectancy since 2020 for these groups compared to white people.

I’ve always been a huge co-design advocate, but we can always do more! This article should serve as a reminder for digital health companies like Healio that we all have an important role to play (and a long way to go) in achieving healthcare equality. For us, this means collaborating with a vast array of end users, including those from marginalised groups, to ensure we are creating patient-centric solutions that cater to a diverse population with varying needs, physiology, cultural backgrounds, technological literacy levels and more. https://lnkd.in/gShVMF-c
