Children born with severe brain-based developmental disabilities frequently experience persistent unexplained periods of pain and irritability, often compounded by a limited capacity to communicate their distress. ???? In CHILD-BRIGHT’s Phase 1, our PIUO research project focused on reducing and resolving pain and irritability of unknown cause in children with severe neurological impairment. Youth and young adults with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) deserve access to high-quality, coordinated care that supports their recovery and well-being. Yet, too often, families face fragmented services, long wait times, and limited provider knowledge about FND. In our most recent publication, the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the Functional Neurological Disorders Society explore the barriers healthcare professionals face when trying to develop FND programming.
