HOW HAPPY FAMILIES ARGUE Unfortunately, family arguments are inevitable and part of growing together. As much as we want to avoid them, they can be healthy if done well. If you don't have arguments or disagreements now and again, it likely means that issues are being avoided. If you are avoiding arguments, it may be because they leave you feeling worse than you did, and nothing gets resolved, causing resentment and disconnection between you all. As parents, we need to teach our children how to argue well so they learn to speak up for themselves, say how they truly feel, set boundaries, be assertive, and build resilience. How your family argues will profoundly determine your family's happiness levels. Understanding how UNHAPPY and HAPPY families argue can make all the difference for your family's relationships and success. This BLOG (LINK BELOW) will look at ten ways that happy and unhappy families argue so you can build strong, healthy, happy relationships in your family. https://lnkd.in/eShGGZ7C Please share so help reach more parents ?? #ParentingTips?#FamilyHarmony?#RaisingKids?#PositiveParenting?#UKParents?#HealthyArguments?#FamilyCommunication?#ChildBehavior?#HappyFamilies?#ParentingAdvice?#BuildingResilience?#ParentingSupport?#FamilyWellbeing?#MindfulParenting?#ParentingJourney

**Growing Up in a Broken Home: 22 Years of Silence in a Blended Family** I am the eldest child, and the only son of my father’s first wife. When my father remarried, he married my American stepmother, and together they had two sons, my half-brothers. It has now been 22 years since I’ve spoken to them. Despite being the eldest, I found myself feeling disconnected, not only from my father’s new family but from the very idea of what family meant after my father remarried. Blended families are far from uncommon—42% of adults have some form of step-relative—but the challenges they present are often overlooked. Growing up with a stepmother and half-siblings brought its share of rivalry, jealousy, and emotional distance. Although my half-brothers have made no effort to reach out to me, and their mother has since passed away, these relationships still linger in my mind. The separation within my family wasn’t just physical but deeply emotional, a struggle many in blended families can relate to. Being the eldest child often comes with expectations, but in a blended family, it can feel like you’re caught between two worlds. Research shows that children with half-siblings face unique emotional challenges, and my experience mirrors that. But despite the decades of silence, I know I am not alone in facing these struggles. Blended families may face complex dynamics, but healing is possible through understanding, communication, and patience. My story is one of estrangement, but it serves as a reminder that many of us share similar journeys. #BlendedFamily #FamilyDynamics #StepFamilyChallenges #HalfSiblings #EldestChild #BrokenHome #EmotionalHealing #Estrangement #LifeJourney #HealingFromThePast #YouAreNotAlone

Are you unintentionally damaging your future relationship with your adult children? ?? Do you truly want to foster a lasting, positive connection with them? Unless, of course, you want to be one of those people that channel their inner lion and, once you’re kids reach a certain age, you kick them out of the pack and are happy to never see them again. Most parents dream of a future filled with mutual respect, admiration, and love with their adult children, maybe even earning the title of Gran or Grandpa of the Year. ???? However that’s not what many parents do. They berate and anger, they humiliate and belittle, they frighten and they manipulate. Now sometimes, in real moderation, every parent will do these things now and again. However it is all too easy to lose the balance. To find yourself never praising or congratulating, never complimenting or admiring, never loving or caring, because you’ve got stuck in a control loop. Ask yourself: Do you want to be loved or just obeyed? Admired or simply accepted? Do you want to be part of something loving, not just because you’re a parent by title, but because you’ve earned respect through love and care? Reflect on this and join the conversation. ???? #ParentingTips #PositiveParenting #ParentChildRelationship #ParentingAdvice #MentalHealth #FamilyWellness #SelfReflection #ParentingJourney #EmotionalWellbeing #HealthyRelationships #parentingteens #headstrong #headstronghub #family #familydynamics #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #scotland #glasgow #edinburgh #TherapyTalks #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters #TherapyWorks #RealTalk #EmotionalWellness #mentalhealth #therapistsofinstagram

As parents, we're all on a journey to help our children grow. Let's pause and think about our daily choices, aiming to be there for them. When we do things together like cooking or fixing stuff around the house, we not only make them feel more confident but also get closer to them and teach them to be strong. Let's encourage our children to take on new challenges and show them we believe in them. Recently, one of my clients told me a story that made me smile. Faced with financial limitations, she let go of household help, prompting her son to take charge in the kitchen. It's amazing how we can overcome tough times and learn from them. Let's celebrate these little wins and keep building strong relationships with our children. #singapore #empowermentcoach #resiliencetraining #gouldingmethod #parentcoach #parenting #parentingtips #energymanagement #singaporelife #mentalhealth?
