We were delighted to connect with the Green City Officers Network at yesterday's online meeting. The session focused on the wastewater sector, we discussed the challenges and the rising cross-sectoral #green opportunities – especially how to re-use wastewater resources to decarbonise activities both within the sector and outside. With excess heat in wastewater being a recognised form of #renewable energy, a key takeaway was that by applying #circulareconomy principles to the water sector, we can minimise waste, increase energy efficiency, optimise resource use, and reduce the environmental impact of water-related activities. It was inspiring to see that cities around the world share similar challenges and are daring to dream big. Thank you to everyone who participated (18 cities!) and shared valuable insights. Big thank you to our EBRD experts and Green Cities team - Dr David Tyler, Greg Gebrail, Esra Giresunlu,?Benedict Krüger,?Carla Russo and Pippa Koszerek. #EBRDGreenCities #GreenCities #SustainableDevelopment #UrbanPlanning #EBRD #Collaboration #WastewaterInfrastructure #CityDevelopment #DistrictEnergy

Our social media manager recently returned from the incredible Burning Man experience, where she witnessed an impressive amount of solar expertise! From her camp to some of the most iconic art installations, the desert was a shining example of what’s possible with sustainable energy. This year, Black Rock City had 1,188 placed camps. According to Bryant Tan, Associate Director of City Planning in Black Rock City, 52% of placed camps in 2024 were working towards Burning Man’s 2030 Environmental Sustainability Roadmap, and 61% were using alternative power, primarily solar. “If things go according to plan for this event, we will have reduced the carbon impact of producing power for the infrastructure of BRC by more than 65% in just three years’ time,” says Chris Neary, the Associate Director of the DPW known as ChAos. Burners have always led the way in innovating cultural, technological, and logistical solutions—and now, these innovations are making their way into the wider world to tackle global challenges far beyond Black Rock City! #SolarPower #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CleanEnergy #CarbonNegative #EnvironmentalSustainability #BurningMan2024 #SolarInnovation #SustainableLiving #EnergyTransition #SolarGrid #GreenTechnology #EcoFriendly #FutureOfEnergy #NetZero2030 #SustainableSolutions #SolarCommunity #EnergyEfficiency

At The Folson Group, we’re committed to helping coop and condo boards transition to electric-powered building systems and enable them to meet their Local Law 97 carbon emission limits. However, recent updates from Gov. Kathy Hochul indicate that achieving 70% renewable energy by 2030 might be delayed by three to five years. This shift underscores the need for proactive planning and adaptable strategies in our sustainability efforts. Check out Habitat Magazine's insightful article on this evolving landscape. As #NetZeroWeek comes to an end for its 4th year, we wanted to share a few of our latest projects we've been working on in our pursuit to Net Zero 2050 ?? For LivGreen, Goal Net Zero 2050 means so much more than reducing EPC ratings within the Social Housing Sector. Its Resident Engagement, Sustainable Living, Affordable Energy and Ease of Journey through out, for everyone involved. Projects like these enable us to provide greener and more affordable energy to residents of social housing. By implementing sustainable energy solutions, we can significantly reduce energy costs and lower carbon footprints for these communities. This not only helps in combating climate change but also improves the quality of life for residents by making energy more accessible and economical. With the funding for SHDF Wave 3 underway, we are more prepared and determined than ever to continue making positive changes within social housing communities. Construction Management Student at Florida International University // Assistant Project Manager at Brickell Group Construction.
Here is a personal point of view on "Decarbonization Practices". In construction, common decarbonization practices include using energy-efficient building designs, renewable energy systems like solar panels, and sustainable materials with low embodied carbon. These practices benefit the triple bottom line by reducing energy and material costs (economic), improving indoor air quality and creating healthier living environments (social), and minimizing carbon emissions during both construction and building operations (environmental). By focusing on reducing waste, recycling materials, and designing buildings for long-term energy efficiency, the construction industry can drive sustainability while balancing economic growth and social well-being. #FIU_CM #FIUCM #BCN4570 #Sustainability #FIUConstructionManagement #ConstructionManagement #FIUMossschool
