Falls are the leading cause of death in construction. In 2022 alone, 410 construction-related deaths were caused due to falls by unprotected leading edges, uncovered or unprotected floor openings, and ladders. At Zwick, our employees are trained to recognize and abate these hazards. We have a zero-tolerance policy on fall protection. In fact, we hold frequent inspections of personal fall arrest systems, safety rails, floor coverings, and ladders as part of daily responsibilities to ensure a safe jobsite. #ConstructionSafetyWeek

FALL ARREST “Fall Arrest” is the term used to describe a method of accessing remote and exposed points on a structure (tower, building, oil rig, etc.) using advanced height safety gear, in order to carry out some form of work (painting, cleaning, inspection, installation, repair, etc.), which does not involve abseiling on ropes. Common techniques include clipping up a latticework using double shock-absorbing lanyards and the use of permanent fall arrest systems such as Fallprotec Securope vertical and horizontal lifelines. THE MORE YOU KNOW…?????? Residential roofers may not like using harnesses and other fall protection equipment because they can be inconvenient and add complexity to an already difficult job. However, fall protection is essential for residential roofing because of the many potential hazards, such as uneven surfaces, changes in roof levels, and the weather. OSHA requires fall protection for work on flat or low-sloped roofs, and for work 15 feet or more from the roof edge. Fall protection systems can include guardrails, safety nets, travel restraint systems, personal fall arrest systems, or designated areas. Harnesses are a convenient and safe alternative to guardrail systems, which some roofers don't want to set up. #BrunnoNoBs ????

Dealing with heights is a standard aspect of working in the construction industry. However, with greater heights comes a heightened risk of falls.
