Everyone can now see that the SJP model was not in the clients best interest. I dont blame the SJP advisers, (many are excellent at their jobs and work well within their constraints), I blame the Management & corporate culture at SJP. They created a remuneration structure that was more interested in locking in clients for 5 years and boosting shareholder profits than doing what was best for the clients. ? Time for change. A long time coming.

The most important element for me, Ali Hussain and Alan Smith, reflecting the comments made in respect of Alan’s post is, as I said in a comment on a Ros Altmann’s post elsewhere, that St. James’s Place’s move, together with what will hopefully be a victory for members of The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) on the charging disclosure regime, will lead to material change across the board - or as I keep saying - Big Bang2. https://lnkd.in/eXVkvdmp Fundamental reform across Financial Services is not only necessary but vital! That can only be achieved through Parliament. The #financialservices Industry is THE most important industry in the country. It is the “oil” for the engine. Consequently, for ????PLC (not just Consumers) it has to be top of the agenda for The Conservative Party or The Labour Party (or a coalition? ????♂?) that is next in power. The 1980’s, Mrs T took on the Unions - discord was rife; there were riots on the streets. Whether agreed with or not, she led with conviction. The 1990’s/00’s a certain Lord B similarly had a conviction. I would suggest, only a certain Mr B J has had as strong a conviction and demonstrated leadership since (I’m excluding Mr Farage from this for now as he hasn’t led the country - yet!). Let me be clear - I’m politically agnostic but much more in favour of #personalresponsibility than an overloaded Welfare State . I have good reason to feel aggrieved reflecting personal experience. However, I can also take personal responsibility and therefore use the experience to move forward positively rather than reflect and be consumed with the past. We won’t all agree on every aspect but what we have to have is strong leadership and the courage of our convictions. The ???? is crying out for that. In fact the ?? is crying out for it right now in terms of balance and a unifying force. I say this to our politicians: let’s scrap personal agendas and really make a difference for the sake of #humanity itself. Govern by setting rules (not just guidance) that are workable, clear and transparent. Make the tax system fairer and use OUR money wisely not for political expedience and folly. No more #negativethoughts - it’s time for the #powerofpositivity. #togetherwecanmakeadifference ?????

Our Managing Director, Glenn King, recently spoke with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's impressive progress in 2024. Over the last year, Oakmount & Partners transitioned from raising expansion capital for third parties to building its diverse asset bank. With a current company valuation between ￡15 and ￡18 million, we aim to achieve a valuation of 4/5 times this amount over the next 5 years. Glenn discussed our recent acquisition of over ￡4 million in real estate, which reflects our robust portfolio expansion and is targeted at staycation and holiday letting retreats, traditional buy-to-lets, and commercial property. King highlighted our five-year plan to raise ￡50 million, primarily for investments in property, green technologies, and transformative industries. We are strategically acquiring distressed properties and considering additional exposure to green technology investments as part of our broader sustainability goals. Additionally, King mentioned the launch of Oakmount's product offerings on an FCA-regulated platform, targeting high-net-worth individuals, IFA's and wealth managers. Under FCA regulation, we are also pursuing expansion into the commercial finance side of the market to become a full-service institution. Our focus remains on maximising shareholder returns and preparing for a potential IPO or private acquisition to create significant returns for our investors, complementing our stable fixed-income offerings.
