As each season changes, so do we. This November, as the leaves turn and fall, let’s reflect on the beauty of letting go – especially in the ever-evolving journey of motherhood, or matrescence. Each phase, with its growth, challenges, and transformations, invites us to release what no longer serves us, making space for new possibilities. Just like leaves fall—or are pushed—off trees so the tree can survive the winter and grow new leaves in the spring, motherhood has its own seasons: moments of vibrant growth, quiet reflection, and times when we’re called to let go of expectations, self-doubt, or perfection. ?? These moments remind us that surrendering can be an act of strength, freeing us to embrace our path with grace and gratitude. As we settle into November, let’s honor each season for the gifts it brings and the things it asks us to release. Share in the comments: What are you letting go of in this season? #lettinggo #matrescence #motherhood #seasonschange

Motherhood: A Journey, Not Just a Role Motherhood is often celebrated for its joys, but it’s also a profound transformation—one that many of us go through without even realizing it has a name. Have you heard of matrescence? It’s the transition to motherhood, similar to adolescence, and it’s as complex as it is beautiful. It’s a complete metamorphosis, a term coined over 50 years ago but still widely unheard of today. I first learned about matrescence from a wonderful motherhood coach, Kendra Williams, and it’s been eye-opening. The emotional highs and lows, the identity shift, the societal expectations—it’s all part of the journey that too often goes unspoken. Take time for yourself, whether it’s through exercise, hobbies, or simply relaxing. Remember, you’re not just a mother; you’re also an individual who deserves care and attention.?I personally found it challenging to prioritize self-care especially during the early days, but it’s crucial in the long run. Even superheroes need to recharge! Taking care of yourself ensures you can be a better, happier, and more supportive mother. In my latest blog post, I explore the depth of this transformation and why understanding matrescence is so vital for us moms. Let’s change the narrative and give ourselves the grace and support we deserve. ?? In the journey of motherhood, self-compassion is the compass that guides us through the highs and lows with grace and resilience. ?? It's about shifting from self-criticism to self-compassion, understanding that it's okay to stumble and prioritize our own well-being along the way. ?? Starting with self-compassion lays the foundation for growth and resilience. It allows moms to acknowledge their struggles without judgment, offering ourselves the same kindness and understanding that we would to a dear friend facing challenges. It's about embracing our imperfections and recognizing that they make us human, not unworthy or inadequate. ???? Self-compassion isn't about perfection—it's about progress. It's about giving ourselves permission to prioritize self-care, setting boundaries, and practicing forgiveness, even when we fall short of our own expectations. It's about showing up for ourselves with love and compassion, knowing that we deserve it just as much as anyone else. ?? Join us on a journey of self-discovery and self-compassion. Let's create a community where moms can support each other in embracing their imperfections, prioritizing self-care, and finding strength in vulnerability. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of motherhood—one filled with kindness, understanding, and compassion. ???

Parenthood has brought me immense joy, but it has also meant a loss of momentum on the professional front. As we settle into our new routine, I've found the time to make a plan on how to regain my lost momentum. If I can find a way to make progress and regain the momentum the graph below shows, I'll bring that upcurve and positivity to my life at home. Many don't and feel a quiet sense of resentment as they go about their duties. In tomorrow's newsletter, I'll share a plan I made on how to regain momentum and keep making progress, with research and insights from experts like Andrew Huberman and James Clear In a nutshell: 1. Acknowledge you're stuck. 2. Set clear goals 3. Take baby steps daily (pun intended) 4. Overcome "limbic friction" that stops you taking those steps. and 5. Learn what "limbic friction" is, as I did just a few days ago. ?? Subscribe here: https://lnkd.in/eDCTBrDn
