?? Second-hand fashion on the runway? Yes, please! ?? With platforms like eBay and Vinted leading the charge, the future of fashion might just be second-hand. ??? Recently, ebay debuted a fashion show featuring pre-loved pieces at London and New York Fashion Week, showcasing that second-hand doesn’t mean second-best. Albeit not a new concept—Oxfam has carved a space out for itself during London Fashion Week years ago, even if outside of the normal schedule— it's still cool to see what platforms and organisations do with it. What ebay did well was curate the shows to represent what they are like. A mixture of everything, from really expensive pieces paired with cheap clothing to rare finds in jewelry, you can expect anything. This is particularly fun to see as it shows that second-hand isn't just cheap no-brand or fast fashion shirts, but also rare timeless pieces. What I love about initiatives like these is how they reframe the narrative. Instead of constantly spotlighting new collections—which, let’s face it, inevitably fuels overconsumption—we’re showing the world how beautiful pre-loved pieces can be. Fashion shows like these can spark a shift in consumer mentality, challenging the outdated "produce, buy, throw away" model. More and more people are embracing second-hand fashion. Whether it's out of environmental consciousness or simply a love for unique pieces, the interest in pre-loved clothing is skyrocketing. But seeing runway shows like these normalises it even further and also shows the range of items you may find if you're willing to browse. And let's be honest, people love browsing anyway. But the unpredictability of second-hand fashion is half the fun of it! Here’s to more fashion shows that celebrate sustainability, creativity, and a smarter way to shop! I'd love to hear your thoughts on second-hand fashion being represented on the catwalk though. Could this be a sign of lasting change in the industry? Drop your thoughts below and let’s get the conversation started! ?? #SustainableFashion #SecondHand #EcoFriendly #FashionIndustry #Sustainability #ConsciousConsumerism #FashionRevolution #CircularFashion #Thrifting

How to do current trends without it costing ‘The Earth’ This week, I am writing about some of the current trends that are in season now and how to work them to suit you! The best part is, I can show you how to ‘Shop Your Wardrobe’ – most of us already own what are deemed to be ‘New Season’ pieces, so hopefully you won’t even need to go shopping! Within your wardrobe, there are really only three key types of quality to consider – ‘classics’, ‘trends’ and ‘fads’. Most of us will have a balance of classics and trends. ?Classics are your investment pieces – a winter coat, a pair of boots, a handbag; these will be timeless and should last 10+ years. Trends, as we will find out, can be so many things and they can last between 3 and 7 years. ?Fads are here today, gone tomorrow, they can be fun, but it is better to see them as just that! Think Barbie…. The turnover of trends is faster than ever these days. Whether it’s the key styles for the season you see on the catwalk, or the micro-trends posted on social media, it can be hard to keep up with what’s current. For any serious clothes addict, it’s the perfect time to revisit the pieces you already own – try things on, rediscover old favourites and invent new ways to wear them. You can learn to shop your own wardrobe instead of buying something new. In today’s world of constant overconsumption, there’s nothing more stylish than a sustainable approach to fashion. And if you really need a ‘must-have item’ for the season, why not sell a few old pieces to make space for something new? If you’d like to find out how you can easily work some of the Autumn/Winter 24/25 looks that are trending right now, follow me on IG this week and next to find out more or book a free discovery call and find out how I can help you find YOUR style! #Sustainableshopping #preloved #knowyourstyle #styleanalysis #Knowyourbestcolours #imageconsultantlichfield #imageconsultantmidlands?

Recently I bought a pair of jeans off vinted. I really wanted to get involved in the leopard print jeans trend but didn’t want to buy from a trend led retailer. So I bagged myself a pair 2nd hand for a tenner. Said jeans arrived and didn’t quite fit the way I hoped. Right there it could be easy for someone to throw away. (Although I really hope other options are explored before that) But I wanted to make this piece work. So I took the pair of jeans to my local tailor who was able to take a couple of inches out of the waist. And now they fit like a glove. I often say that focusing on having less of a trend driven wardrobe is a great start to your sustainability journey. But if you do want to get involved in trends focus on trends that will stand the test of time. Not micro-trends that last a couple of weeks before they're on their way back out again. There are also ways to do this in a more environmentally conscious way. Don’t sleep on buying second hand and certainly don’t sleep on tailoring your pieces to fit or turn them into something new. Make your clothes earn their keep! #sustainablefashion #thefashionfounder #fashionbrandowners #businessconsultant #brandconsultant

It took me less than 5 minutes to shop for these items. I remember my style before ‘The NLW Style System’. I was all about fast fashion, wearing new items often, wearing the latest trends and seeing a closet full of clothing but felt like I had nothing to wear. It felt like a treadmill that kept going but there was no stop button in sight. What helped me change my style? *Making a conscious decision to make the change and THEN having a style system in my back pocket* When I created ‘The NLW Style System’ I knew that this was the key to align with my new style values. It helps me: - Identify gaps in my closet - Create a shopping plan BEFORE I even start - Build polished outfits in less than 60 seconds or less I had to start from the ground up and it didn’t come overnight, but having the plan in place ensured that I was on the right path, even when I fall off. Now, I can go shopping with a purpose. I know what I’m looking for, what is a need vs a want for my closet and be more intentional about my style. In fact, I used my methods for some Spring shopping with these items. Although the denim piece didn’t work out, I knew that these were gaps in my closet and I wanted to invest in quality pieces. If you’re wanting to feel more confident with what you buy, feel proud of how you present yourself and excited when it comes to your style- you’re in the right place!

Such a fun way to make people understand second-hand isn't just "ratty stuff" someone else doesn't want anymore—it's all kinds of different treasures, you just gotta have the patience and dedication to find them! There is also something to be said about making your pieces with timelessness and uniqueness in mind. So that if the originally customer doesn't want them anymore, they can pass them on to the next person. Creating clothes in a way that gives them the longest life possible is incredibly important, but make your products stand out with unique features, like using new ingredient pieces that no one else has yet. We are cooking up exactly that—a nifty feature that is sure to make you stand out. ------------- If you're interested in #SustainableFashion, make sure to stay tuned as we are on a mission to help boost the functionality and longevity of clothing. Wonder how we do it? Follow and connect with us to find out more soon. You don't want to let this one slip away! #PocketInnovation #FuntionalFashion #InnovativeDesign
