The D-Tech Rotary Steerable team recently worked with a customer drilling the 9.875-in. section of a Haynesville well in Louisiana. They needed to improve performance while drilling though several challenging interbedded formations, including the Travis Peak. By combining D-Tech's new firmware, 24/7 real-time support, and high-performing RST800 rotary steerable system, the Operator was able to build to 18 degrees and hold tangent to the kick off point. This allowed them to successfully complete the section in one run. D-Tech Rotary Steerable was chosen to drill an 8.5-in. lateral for a new customer in Upton County, TX. The D-Tech tool and team completed the 18,163 ft well in the Wolfcamp B3 Formation, successfully transmitting real-time data to TD.
