Hello and happy Friday. As I stand to develop inspirational leadership in companies, I have a great example to share to kick off the day. You will love this! I watched Cinderella Man again last night, and it just hit me how much inspirational leadership is showcased in this fabulous film. If you want two great examples of how to be an inspirational leader for your people and help take them to their greatness while they perform at their best, look no further than two of the main characters in Cinderella Man (with James J. Braddock as the boxer played by Russell Crowe). They are Mae Braddock (James J Braddock's wife played by Renee Zellweger) and his agent/coach Joe Gould (played by Paul Giamatti). Watch how Joe reminds James of his past greatness as he's about to step into the fight of his life with Max Baer. He's building James to coax success into his next big stand. Then Mae comes in and situates for James how important he is to the community, to his kids, and to her and that they're all behind him. Both characters are totally pouring love into James, which is the foundational component of inspirational leadership - deliver encouraging, rousing messages to your people from a place of love to build them up and help them realize their potential. This is totally our jam, Lance Secretan. PhD., David Pearl, Bill Carmody, PCC, Jan de Zwarte, David Fisher, Justin McCorkle. Share what you get from this clip, if you are so moved. So much to take from this 3-minute scene. #inspirationalleadership #highperformance #potential #greatness #loveatwork #youmatter https://lnkd.in/gQEkkCD3

Believe it or not, Nick Saban, one of the most successful coaches in history, was not always one of the "greatest". This past weekend on College Game Day, Saban shared that at one point he was about to be fired at Michigan State, given the lack luster performance of the team. He was at risk of losing his team. A head of a critical game against, Ohio State University, Saban shared that he realized he needed to make a change and was not focused on the “right things.” Saban needed to evolve from a transactional leader to a transformational leader to get the most out of his team. He credits that shift to changing his career. Here are 5 key takeaways from Saban’s leadership philosophy that shaped his legendary success: 1) Lead by example—be someone your team can emulate. 2) Care deeply about your people—for their benefit, not yours. 3) Have a clear vision—know what you’re going to achieve and how. 4) Build values for life—help your team succeed on and off the field. 5) Focus on the process, not outcomes—play one play at a time. What’s fascinating? One of the most successful coaches in history did not mention winning as one of the key aspects of his philosophy—he emphasizes the process instead. Such a cool nugget of wisdom from one of the best coaches: ?? Watch the clip here

What is excellence and what is the pinnacle of authority that you want to achieve in the field that you work in? There have been many great movies about leadership - Coach Carter, Remember the Titans, Invictus - But they all revolved around Sports! Then there were movies about business and professionalism - The Aviator, Air, Pursuit of Happyness and The Founder for example. But rarely has a movie shown what it means to achieve excellence in one's chosen field better than A Devil Wears Prada. With all her flawed values of Mid 2000s, Miranda Priestly remains in my mind as the shining example of achieving excellence at her work. Is she a great leader? No. Was she fair? No. But did she know her "stuff"? Absolutely! This is one of the things I aim for - Everyday when I wake up! You want to know what I expect when someone tells me in an interview they are a subject matter expert? Watch the movie :) Do you have a better example? Let me know in the comments below! #excellence #leadership #inspiration https://lnkd.in/gnwYjzPx

I N T E G R I T Y | Living Ava Durvernay’s edition on Masterclass: Reframe Your Thinking is a demonstration of the highest expression of Leadership. ?? As many of you, I’ve been watching her powerful and graceful ascension as a filmmaker, director, leader, woman, and change maker of our time, of all time. ? I’m deeply inspired by her because of how she chooses to lead her life, believing in herself, what’s POSSIBLE, interrupting constructs and caste systems from the beginning. She is USING HER LIFE in every way possible, changing “the way it’s be done,” creating beautiful art through her films, educating the TRUTH, while creating ABUNDANT opportunities for those who have been excluded. ?????? This masterclass is worth more than the annual membership fee. If more leaders were willing to watch this class and really hear what she is imparting (with many examples),and begin to practice in their work and teams, the landscape of organizations would shift dramatically. ?? She talks about: - what she looks for in who she invites to join her projects - her non negotiables - creating opportunities for those not empowered to be heard - honest leadership - leading with empathy And so much more! Do not miss this! And, please, please share this with your community. ???? #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackWomenLeaders #BlackWomenFilmmakers #Changemaker #AvaDuvernay Not sure why LI doesn’t allow certain links.
