My Journey With Wood
As a Graduate Civil Engineer, my primary goal at present is to develop into a competent professional engineer, a goal that Wood, being a global leader in consulting and engineering, supports by ensuring engineering excellence. As a junior engineer, I’m thankful to have joined Wood, as it provides me with field exposure to various civil and structural engineering tasks, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application.

From day one (March 11, 2024), my journey with the Wood team has been remarkable. The team, from junior to senior staff, creates a supportive work environment that encourages open communication. The opportunity to interact with international engineering experts has accelerated my professional development, thanks to the clear and consistent guidance provided.
?
My work at Wood has primarily focused on the Debswana Orapa Cut 3 Feasibility Study, which aims to redesign and extend the current mine operations, ensuring continued shareholder returns. Additionally, I have been involved in the Equipment Selection and Trolley Assist Feasibility Study for Debswana, which has given me insight into the processes involved at the feasibility stage of projects. These experiences have deepened my understanding of engineering projects even before they reach the implementation phase.
?
In summary, I’ve learned that during the feasibility study phase, exploring and evaluating all possible execution options is crucial for identifying the most viable solution. Moreover, I've realized that successful project outcomes rely on completing tasks within time constraints, scope, and budget. Most importantly, good results stem not from chance but from meticulous planning and the effective execution of a skilled workforce.
