Want to run a thought by all the guys that work in the field doing layout or scanning. I remember back when I was scanning concrete decks, I would look like a pack mule because of all the gear I would need to complete my task. Between the scanner, spheres, tripod, targets, laptop, tripod, waters, extra batteries, my back was killing me. When I went to World of Concrete, I started wondering what it would look like for a Field Engineer / Scanning Tech to have one of these Milwaukee Tool PackOut set up. Hear me out on this... What if a scanning tech was to use this set up where the targets, spheres, and bulky stuff was at the bottom box with the 9" wheels. Your laptop, site plans, tape, paper, waters, batteries, and other smaller items are in the drawer system. And for the top of the stack, you put your scanner and power cords in it. Imagine wheeling this around the site versus making multiple trips back and forth carrying stuff. Or be like I was and grab everything to try carrying it in one trip. I feel the same concept could be applied for Layout Tech / Field Engineers because you could replace the scanner with the RTS unit. Now I can bring all my supplies that I would need to work with me. Let me know your thoughts! #Layout #Scanning #FE #Construction #Packout #ScantoBIM #QAQC #Surveying #MEP

Me: Yo bro, did you save money on that job then? Client: Mate, it's one of the best things I've done with this 'strip out' job Me: I'm all ears ... Client: So, I'd say these 3 benefits are key for me: 1?? On planning I had to produce documents for FIRE points, EXITS, hoarding design and materials list. 2?? When I need quotes, I get mutliple quotes in one hit. I just send contractors the 3D Twin link. No f??# ng running about. 3?? Clients have used the 3D to the value the percentage of job completion and we get reports without having to be there. Me: Thanks for that fella Client: Top man, you owe me lunch : ) #constructionuk #buildingandconstruction #sustainability #architecturedesign #construction #constructionindustry Anthony Yusufu Oliver Georgiou Collins Samp BSc (Hons) MCIOB

?? If you’re a glazing contractor, have you ever calculated the amount of money you spend bidding jobs you don’t end up winning?? ?? #Glassbuild confirmed what I’ve been seeing for years - it’s staggering how much money everyone is wasting estimating jobs that never come through. It seems like sometimes GC’s just shotgun RFPs/ITBs without realizing the effort their requiring from their trade partners. And don’t even get me started on all the revisions and addendums…. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Too often, we hear that it’s just the “cost of doing business.” But what if it wasn’t? What if you could reduce your estimating costs and improve your chances of winning more work? At Guthrie Automation, our Bid Assist service is helping select subcontractors work smarter, not harder— they’re keeping those dollars where they belong: on the bottom line. Let’s turn wasted time into profitable outcomes. ?? #Construction #Subcontractors #Estimating #Efficiency #Profitability #GuthrieAutomation #Glazing

WARNING!!!!! Rant and Rave Coming.... So, we (Delta Zero Steel) have been getting a lot of Your Price is too high or I can get it cheaper. Structural steel detailing is NOT where to cut corners on your project and is the catalyst for the entire process of Steel Fabrication and Erection! The snapshot in this post is from a detailing firm from "overseas" Offering me the services for said price per hr. This is killing the Steel detailing industry here in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. (pretty sure a teenager at fast-food makes more) Now as a business owner hmmm... I could really take advantage of this make a bigger profit and spend more time pretending like we have the best detailing around can do it for half the price as your other guy!. But I'm stubborn and love what I do and know what skill, education, and experience it takes to know what you are doing in this industry. I ONLY SUBOUT TO US FIRMS WITH US EMPLOYEES. I WILL NOT MAKE AS MUCH $$$ But I DON'T CARE! Cheap Labor that learned a computer program does not by any means make you a Steel Detailer. When I worked for a Fabricator I actually pitched using firms like this overseas detailer so the company could have more man power at a fraction of the cost. But after then working for a detailing firm that actually did only paper push for foreign companys and claim it as their own did I realize that it takes that 1 skilled actual detailer can outperform 5 "program" detailers. Sorry not sorry! SO YES! I CHARGE A HIGHER HRLY RATE FOR DETAILING SERVICES TO PAY MY EMPLOYEES AND MYSELF! A FAIR WAGE FOR THE SKILLS THEY HAVE. If I want to pay my employees $10hr all I would expect them to do is spin a sign at the curb.!

They will do what the drawings tell them to do without question, specifically if you do not Quality Assure what it is that you want them to do. Make plans and specs that resolve conflicts of name, in particular. If you quote a National Standard you had better have READ that Standard such that your drawing and specifications reflect perfect registration with the Standard.

?? Ready to navigate the intricate world of contractor agreements? In today’s highlight, the spotlight is on understanding the scope of work - and there's a lot more to it than meets the eye! ?? Consider this: You paid for the bumper, but missed the clips. Got the clips? But forgot the light removal? As your contractor, my approach is to clarify these important details: - YOUR project deserves FULL transparency. - Understand each component and its value. - Relate it to something you know – like car repairs – to reframe your perspective. Remember, it's not just about having quality materials, but quality execution too. Just like using premium paint and hiring an expert painter. ?? And here's the key question – when was the last time you thoroughly reviewed a project's scope before signing on the dotted line? Let's discuss! Share your thoughts and experiences below. ?? #ContractorInsights #ProjectManagement #ScopeClarity #QualityExecution #BusinessSuccess #TransparentCommunication

Ranting a little bit here. This article tells is spot on. Fabricators picking the VERY lowest detailing # is killing our companies. It's pushing companies be too dependent on overseas labor. I frequently loose projects to companies detailing with an hourly rate of $35 or less. What the article says about the woes of RFI's, changes from returned approvals, so-called 'small changes' here and there, and whatever else that changes a model.... Detailing, checking, backchecking a job and all that jazz going for $35 (plus/minus) an hour. We have licensed Software updates ($$$$$), water bill, phone bills, internet, electric, taxes, employees, supplies... it is tough to get that 10%. I am complaining about something I cannot control. Why do it then (this line of work)? Somedays I wake up and go to bed thinking that same thing. Other days I wake up with that Gratitude that caused me to start this business in the first place. I'm in it until it quits me. God bless it ??
I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS $***
