Like any event, a fair has a lot of moving parts.?The first step to building a successful fair is to look at things through the guests eyes; what do they want to do, what do they want to see and what will be important to them. For example, many fair goers are family's and regardless of whether they are coming for a rodeo event or the rides and games, a smooth transition is going to be important.?What does this information tell us??That we need to be conscious of narrow areas that could bottleneck crowds, we need to ensure lines don't move into traffic areas and that opportunities for photos or other engagements can be positioned to break up the routine of walk and waiting...

If someone were to ask us, “So, how did CERSAIE go?” What should we say? Perhaps with a bit of bravado, we’d say it went well. It’s almost obligatory, after all — with nearly 100,000 visitors, would we ever dare say we didn’t find anything good? Of course not, especially considering the amount of time, resources, and financial effort our partners put into setting up their booths and all the extra events outside the fair. So yes, it went well, actually very well! But in reality, we measure it after some time, sometimes even after a few years. For example, a visitor who carefully studied a machine might come back later asking for feedback and then disappear. One day, maybe even a long time later, they come back and say, “I’m ready to proceed.” For us, the fair is successful regardless, as it remains a unique opportunity to meet and showcase many solutions that we wouldn’t have the chance to present during regular client visits, or to receive visits from potential clients who would otherwise be difficult to contact! And yes, it’s true, besides our partners’ booths, there’s also plenty of competition at the fair — but that’s another story. Ever been to the Minnesota State Fair? Today’s the last day, but did you also know it’s the largest state fair in the U.S. by average daily attendance? 135k+ people per day - Pretty wild, right? When I first launched Joycoast, consumer shows were our go-to for getting the word out and connecting with customers. Last year alone, we did over 50 shows! This year, we've scaled back a bit, but the Minnesota State Fair is a must for us. The exposure is incredible, but man, twelve straight 12-hour days can be a grind for the whole team. Some fun facts: * The daily average attendance this year is over 135,000+ people. * 1859 was the first year of the MN State Fair, AKA the “Great Minnesota Get-Together”. * It’s the second-largest state fair in the United States by total attendance, after the State Fair of Texas (which is 24 days, compared to MN’s 12 days). * Around 300 different food vendors, and around 900 other booths. * The cookie vendor can produce upwards of 3 million Cookies per day! * Around 50 tons of glass, plastic and aluminum are collected and recycled during the duration of the fair * Joycoast has exhibited at the MN State Fair 3 times so far :) #sustainability #MNStateFair #smallbusiness #eventprofs Joycoast, Sustainable Gifts
