If you can't tell, I'm having a lot of fun with Edward Smith talking to amazing people for This Week In Carbon podcast. This week, we have the dynamic duo of Nathalie Flores and Mónica De Oliveira join the pod. Two incredible women, who I am lucky to call my friends. It also just so happens that both Nat and Monica are best friends. On this episode, I coaxed Monica to join us and surprise Nat on the show. For those that don't know, Nathalie is a powerhouse, and draws on decades of experience in the worlds of climate policy; most notably as the Director for Climate Change in her home country of the Dominican Republic as well as most recently the Vice-Chair of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) at the UN Climate Change (UNFCCC) Meanwhile, Monica is a veteran of carbon markets having served in senior trading roles, and is one of the most insightful people I know. She's also very shy, which is why this is her first (but not last) podcast appearance. I'm delighted that she joined us! Hope you will too... Join us as we discuss the stories of the week, and given their combined expertise, get a masterclass on article 6 and the growth of carbon markets in LATAM. Hope you enjoy this week's show. We are excited to bring this and other future conversations with the market's thought leaders. If you have any recommendations for future guests please nominate them in the comments section below. I can’t thank you enough for this invite! Rene Velasquez and Nathalie Flores supported me a lot last year throughout my professional growth, and now, they’ve gone and challenged me to join this podcast. I feel so lucky to have landed in this industry, surrounded by friends, mentors, and incredible professionals. A place where support is mutual and where we all want each other to succeed because that means our work is having a positive impact. Edward Smith, I’m throwing a challenge your way ?? keep up with your Spanish! Maybe in a year, the four of us can be back here, doing the whole episode in Spanish. What do you think? For those pro skiers out there, excuse me for hitting the fence at the end of the video. I'm from the Caribbean! ?? I'll keep practicing, and here I’m referring to both things.
Sick Nathalie, totally surprised! Grateful for such a fun “Zoom call” with the three of you Rene, Edward & Mónica. I finally dared to listen to myself because I'm so excited to extrapolate everything countries have put together to enable private investment to step in and scale up StoneX Group Inc. I nominate the most didactic people I know—my dearest Perumal Arumugam, Lisa (Elisabeth) DeMarco and Alfredo Nicastro—to translate complex legal and scientific international policy texts into digestible insights (including implementation) for those looking to lead the way.
I love this! ??????
Rene Velasquez If you want to touch upon indigenous led conservation across the US and Canada, Bryan Van Stippen and Steven Nitah. Our collective launched the First 30x30 supporting innovative indigenous programs across the continent
