In 1917, the biggest effect they managed to pull of, was making us think it didn't have any! What do you think? ? For more: https://lnkd.in/dSJutjR MPC MPC won the Oscar for their visual effects work on 1917 and its not surprising, normally we'd mention how many shots they did, but this film is supposedly just one! Or thanks to MPC, it looks that way. what we can say is the they did VFX work on approximately 91% of the film. Stitching As you probably know it is virtually impossible to shoot a 2 hour film in one continuous shot, so MPC had to be ingenious when stitching shots together. Sometimes they used Natural Architecture of a piece of landscape, sometimes fading or morphing each transition required a different solution. Burning City The scene where Scofield runs through the burning city of Ecoust and then jumps into a river only to be taken away by the rapids was particularly difficult because neither city nor river existed. The city was built on a backlot at Shepperton Studios, VFX were then used to make it look like a natural environment. #1917 #movie #vfxbreakdown #thierrymalet #famefocus
