***24 hour challenge - Wed 31st Jan*** It's that time of year again when I realise I have no time left to train for the annual University College Birmingham 24 hour endurance challenge! The culmination of the UCB Health 100 January challenge, this year's event will be supporting Breast Cancer Now, a research and support charity. It's time to do something uncomfortable for those affected by this disease. Please share the important message to check yourself regularly. Touch?your breasts Look?for changes Check?anything new or unusual with a GP What's your normal? I have set my challenge to 100 miles cycling, 100 km rowing, 100 x 100 kg deadlifts, 100 sit ups and 100 press ups (and anything else linked to 100 if I have time). I think the entire #linkedincommunity is at its best when focused on supporting others in the pursuit of goals. Do you agree? Gregory Bebbington, a dear friend and recent guest on #comfychairspodcast, has a BIG goal this year: ? Complete #pelotonia for the tenth year in a row—AND raise $10k to honor his late wife, Melissa. ? Let’s break it down: ??♂?10 endurance races is a big deal. (IYKYK) ??Fundraising for a charity is a big endeavor. (#teamintraining alum here and I can vouch for it). ??Sharing your why can be a big challenge. (We’ve all been there.) This is a chance to show up in big ways to support a great cause! Obviously, donations will go a long way, but there are so many ways to support a goal like this: ?? Amplify the cause—whether it’s Greg’s participation or someone in your own life. ?? Consider participating yourself. ?? Send your thoughts and prayers to everyone training for the race. (This is the right use for those!) ?? Take charge of your own health and get educated on cancer screening. Whatever way you can support, I know it will have a big impact!

An area I'm very familiar with is Patient Assistance...and Susan G. Komen is EXCELLENT at it: With Susan G. Komen's Financial Assistance Program - anyone currently in breast cancer treatments OR living with MBC that is 300% FPL can qualify?for a $400 check from Komen to help with everyday life expenses.? Last year, Komen was able to give =$11 million to assist 19,256 individuals currently battling breast cancer with our Financial Assistance Program. 98% of survey respondents reporting the assistance reduced financial burden and 97% reporting an increase in their quality of life after receiving assistance. Participants addressed their largest financial need was housing (35%) followed by transportation (29%) and utilities (25%).
