#Battery Day NRW 2025: Focus on future technologies Large-scale battery storage and start-ups in the spotlight The annual Battery Day NRW, a leading industry event for battery and energy storage technologies, will occur on April 1, 2025. The event will take place at the Eurogress in Aachen, where experts, companies, and scientists will come together to present and discuss the latest developments and trends in battery technology. The major international conference Advanced Battery Power will follow the Battery Day NRW. The conference is supported by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MWIKE). Large-scale battery storage: a focus of this year's conference A particular focus of this year's conference is on large-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS), which are considered a key technology for stabilizing electricity grids and storing renewable energy. I am pleased to have presented my paper, "Energy Flexibility as an Example for a Complex Data Exchange System," at the 15th Scientific Conference: Measurement Systems in Research and in Industry. The paper focused on the concept of a Local Energy Flexibility Market and its integration within a complex data exchange system. We explored how local markets can optimize the use of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) by leveraging advanced measurement and control technologies. Central to our discussion was the role of the Data Space approach in enabling seamless and efficient data exchanges among stakeholders to manage this complexity. It was a great opportunity to contribute to the conversation on advancing energy systems and to connect with fellow experts in the field. #EnergyFlexibility #RenewableEnergy #IHP

Today, OCED issued a Notice of Intent for up to $100M to fund pilot-scale energy storage demonstration projects, focusing on non-lithium technologies, long-duration (10+ hour discharge) systems, and stationary storage applications.
