Title: My Journey through Pharmacy School: The salty moments, the bittersweet moments, and the exquisite moments.?? In pharmacy there is no room for mistake’’, these are the words of Dr. Anthony Sarfo my pharmacology lecturer, these words kept playing in my head over again. These words always remind me not just to learn for exams but to learn for practice also. Finally NO PRELAB??, no lab reports, no more submit your lab report within 48hours??, I could finally sleep without guilt??, and I could now have more time to read personal growth books aside my slides, textbooks, BNF and guidelines and also some time to bond with my friends??. Level 400 smells like FREEDOM ??or so I thought.This semester’s courses were still demanding, but without the added stress of labs, I could approach them with a clearer mind and better focus. For the first time in pharmacy school I felt like I had a semblance of control over my time??. I picked up books like ‘’Thinking for a change by John C. Maxwell’’, and it felt amazing to understand the value of good thinking, the book taught me about association, who you hang out with can influence how you think ??. The next lesson I learned was about habit of good thinking, achievements come from the habit of good thinking. I learned about reflective thinking and creative thinking which helped me to understand how to approach challenges from multiple perspectives. Finally discipline thinking is key to making better decisions and creating a clear path toward my goals. ??But it wasn’t all about books and personal growth, I also spent quality time with my friends??, something I hadn’t done in a while. One of the highlights was organizing a surprise birthday party for my good friend Gifty Doku with the help of our mutual friends DAJONANG DAMYENI , FRANCIS GARDINER. Seeing the smile on their face made all the planning worth it. It was refreshing to have time to laugh?? and enjoy moments ????that weren’t tied to deadlines. Level 400 first semester truly felt like the best semester yet??. But did the freedom last? Read my next post about my second semester to find out!??

In a study published this year in the journal PM&R, UToledo was ranked as the top allopathic medical school program in the nation for producing graduates pursuing careers in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). The analysis, led by UToledo alumnus Dr. Devon T. Shannon, examined data from 2017 to 2021. The findings highlighted the impact of early exposure to PM&R through clinical rotations, interest group activities, lectures and career advising. “The study underscores UToledo’s commitment to fostering interest in this growing medical specialty and supporting students as they prepare for impactful careers in PM&R,” Dr. Steven J. Farrell, professor and PM&R program director, shared with us. “We are proud to have our success recognized on a national level. Today is Perfecting Peds first day taking APPE students from my alma mater Rutgers. What a cool and surreal moment to be able to give back to the school that gave me so much. **Advice to Pharmacy Students:** Throughout my career, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience, and I am passionate about mentoring the next generation of pharmacists. My advice to pharmacy students is rooted in the values that have guided my own journey: 1. Dream big. Set ambitious goals and work tirelessly to achieve them. 2. Surround yourself with people who inspire you. Build a network of mentors, colleagues, and friends who challenge and support you. 3. Stay uncomfortable to grow. Embrace challenges and step out of your comfort zone to learn and develop. 4. Take care of yourself—put on your oxygen mask first. Prioritize your well-being to be the best caregiver you can be. 5. Treat every patient as if they were your family. Approach each case with empathy, compassion, and a commitment to excellence. 6. Stay hungry for knowledge. Continually seek out opportunities to learn and stay abreast of the of the latest advancements in your field. ?7.?Think outside the box.
