Announcing our partnership with MongoDB! ???? Working together with MongoDB, we are bringing the power of Ditto's Edge Sync Platform to MongoDB Atlas. Our belief is that Edge devices are super computers that shouldn't be treated as dumb clients. These devices can store data, perform advanced computation, and connect to each other directly - which is what Ditto enables. This doesn't mean the Cloud is going anywhere, centralized systems still play a major role, especially in large scale AI workloads (where MongoDB's vector search means you don't need other tools). However, the Cloud is not guaranteed, facing connectivity failures with Edge devices to backends issues (like CrowdStrike outages). When a network connection is restored, all changes are then replicated to the cloud, seamlessly. Apps powered by the Ditto SDK allow developers to focus on writing business logic for their use cases, while Ditto takes care of all the plumbing. Use-Cases: Big Data job that needs to complete fast. Application that needs extremely low latency & high network throughput. ??Spread: Pros: span across multiple AZs. Reduced risk in simultaneous failure. EC2 Instances are on different physical hardware. Cons: Limited to 7 instances per AZ per placement group. ??Use-Case: Application that needs to maximize high availability. Critical applications where each instance must be isolated from failure from each other. ??Partition: Upto 7 partitions per AZ. Can span across multiple AZs. Upto 100s of EC2 intances. instances in partition do not share racks with instances in other partition. Partition failure can affect many EC2s but won't affect other partitions.
