Jack, Thanks for sharing the successes we helped Mount Baker Theatre achieve through the training and application of Lean methods. A 50% improvement in concession throughput during a show is a huge success for MBT and the customer experience. Did you say the front-line concession workforce is happier and making more tip money? Controversial Opinion: This is another version of the company that sucked so much money out of the established regional theatres that know what their communities need. Instead, money will now go to another Cardiff-centric company that will likely have the same output as the previous incarnation. The creation of the company stemmed out of the fact there weren't enough Welsh Stories for when Michael was growing up. In 2023/24, at the time of other children growing up: Cymrix, a piece for young people about Welsh Identity and language across the West of Wales - CWMNI THEATR ARAD GOCH. The Fight - a play about a boxer from Metrthyr Tydfil performed to audiences from Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Bannau Brycheiniog and further - Theatr na nóg. In the Dark Woods - a programme that encourages students to consider safety at home, in the communities of Rhonda Cynon Taf and the Valleys - Spectacle Theatre BrightSparks - a performance workshop that encouraged children to not only think about STEM, but the opportunities and careers in Wrexham, Denbighshire, Conway and Gwynnedd - Theatr Clwyd The Welsh Dragon - a refreshing updated telling of The Mabinogion that highlights issues around race in Cardiff, Newport, the Vale of Glamorgan and more - Theatr Iolo Theatre in Education is doing the job that Michael Sheen wishes to fulfil. They provoke, they teach, they learn, they engage, they access imagination, it is not funded! (I am aware some of these companies have ACW funding before I get attacked on that, but that's for other operations). TiE has been a significant step in establishing so many of the wonderful actors you see in Wales. If we simply aim for the big stage, there will be many more that leave because the opportunities will be narrowed by this company. Investment in an art form that provides opportunities will create a stable platform to reach those bigger opportunities. This is also a country that has seen 37% cuts in real term funding since 2010, can we really find the funding to begin a theatre company of this scale?
