I really resonate with Gus Fink art. Ok back to Vermeer and another new digital hybrid. This is Destiny 34. Repeating what I posted yesterday - We all know "The Girl with a Pearl Earring." Its allure lies in its ambiguity and the shared gaze between the subject and the viewer. I've been exploring this concept in my own work for a few years now, and I'll be sharing some pieces over the next few days. Here is one called "Loni 4." Vermeer’s "The Girl with a Pearl Earring" masterfully creates ambiguity through a simple glance and a shared gaze. This results in alternate, mutually exclusive emotional responses, each seeming correct and real. This is a prime example of higher-level ambiguity, where Vermeer invites the viewer to complete the narrative. Is she inviting or frightened? Innocent, pure, or seductive? What will she be like years later? What is she thinking now? Vermeer leaves the portrait open to interpretation, creating several possible realities. With minimal context, it’s up to us, the viewers, to provide the narrative. Her glance, though fleeting, penetrates the soul. Great art almost always comes from pain. Think about Vincent Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Charles Bukowski to name a few. It’s basic human nature - we feel pain more deeply than our pleasures. We’ll do much more to get away from our fears than move towards gains. Case in point: We were running ads for a finance coach to increase her program sales. We changed her adverts from ‘Learn investing and retire early’ to ‘Stop relying on your husband for investment advice’. This resulted in a 300% increase in ROI! That’s why it’s so important to understand your audience’s fears and pains. They must feel like you “get them”. That’s when you become “magnetic” to your dream clients.
