Thanks for your kind words, Eddie. Good to catch up, and always an interesting discussion. And yes, what is happening with for-profit registered providers does bear close attention, not least their ability to tap into institutional funding to develop social and affordable housing. At a time when government funding is limited and insufficient to meet the scale of demand for quality affordable homes, institutional and commercial sources are increasingly important, provided such funding is available on acceptable terms.
Established over 25 years ago, Campbell Tickell has become a trusted partner for organisations ranging from housebuilders to housing associations and local authorities to legal firms. My experience of their work in social housing is exemplary, and their latest report on AI shows they remain at the forefront of innovations in this sector. I was delighted that the eponymous Greg Campbell was able to spare some time to discuss the latest challenges in the housing sector and the wider environment for for-profit providers. We now have 79 for-profit RPs, currently responsible for around 36,000 homes between them. With an impressive annual growth rate of 40% we could see this figure rise to 100+k homes by 2027. As we see growing partnership working between for-profit and non-profits it will be interesting to see the impact this has on the sector.
