Today, April 1, 2024, USA Pickleball announced that April is National Pickleball Month! #PickleballMonth https://lnkd.in/e-gkwkuE Using USA Pickleball standards as guidance, pickleball ratings are scaled from 1.0 to 5.5+, where 1.0 is a beginner and 5.5 or higher is a player with professional playing abilities. Below is the USA Pickleball Player Skill Ratings rubric that provides specific skills needed to achieve "beginner" levels of player rating. 1.0 to 2.0 Skill Rating This player is just starting to play pickleball and has no other sports background. Minimal understanding of rules of the game. 2.5 Skill Rating This player has limited experience. Can sustain a short rally with players of equal ability. Basic ability to keep score.

Before you plan that summer vacation, be sure to check when your player will be heading in for tryouts! We host 2 Days of Tryouts for each age group. We encourage every player to come to both days of tryouts. We typically field between 2-4 teams per age group: Black (1), Blue (2), White (3), Silver (4). Several of my family members love playing pickleball.? It's a fairly new sport, similar to tennis. (Two people or two pairs hit a ball back and forth over a net.) However, pickleball players use a paddle-- like ping pong-- and a lightweight hollow ball with holes. The courts are shorter and the rules are different.??A lot of older people and children like it because it's less strenuous and easier on the joints, but still fast-moving.? My son-in-law Jacob loves to compete, so he practices every chance he gets.?? That started me thinking: it's a little like language practice.??There are things you can practice or rehearse on your own, but you can only get the full benefits of pickleball or speaking practice with a partner-- not alone.? And if you want to be sure that your aim is right or that what you're saying makes sense, you need to get feedback from someone else. Like tennis or pickleball, it takes two (or more--often four in both those games.)? Do you have someone to practice and improve your English with? Tennis is hands down better than pickleball ?? Now that I worked half of my followers up, let me break it down… Pickleball seems to have taken over the world (my world anyway, here in Florida from college students up to the retirees) ?? But the why isn’t super clear… You go to pickleball courts and it looks like the below (super crowded) Meanwhile tennis courts at the same parks sit empty ?? Then it hit me, pickleball is literally running the 2024 growth-stage playbook: 1?? Build a simple, cost-effective product with a… 2?? Low barrier to entry (minimal skills or cardiovascular strength needed) and… 3?? Create an ecosystem of evangelists (who then get other users…ahem, players) Gonna take a page out of the Warren Buffet book and zig (tennis) while y’all zag (pickleball): “Be fearful when others are greedy, and be greedy when others are fearful.” I’ll enjoy the open courts and extra cardio work ?? #ecosystem #growth #tennis #pickleball

Welcome to Pickleball 101! ?? Pickleball is played either as doubles (two players per team) or singles ?? The same size playing area and rules are used for both singles and doubles ?? The serve is made diagonally crosscourt and must land within the confines of the opposite diagonal court. ?? If a point is scored, the server switches sides and the server initiates the next serve from the left-hand court. ?? Points are scored only by the serving team. ?? Games are normally played to 11 points, win by 2. ?? Tournament games may be to 15 or 21, win by 2. ?? When the ball is served, the receiving team must let it bounce before returning, and then the serving team must let it bounce before returning, thus two bounces. ?? The non-volley zone is the court area within 7 feet on both sides of the net. ?? The non-volley zone is commonly referred to as “the kitchen.” ?? A ball contacting any line, except the non-volley zone line on a serve, is considered “in.” ?? A serve contacting the non-volley zone line is short and a fault.
