?? Disability is not a dirty word! ?? "We often fear what we don’t understand, and conversations around disability are avoided. The fear of not knowing what to say, how to act, or how to behave, divides us, not unites us. We whisper it or avoid it altogether, disability is not a dirty word, It’s a source of pride. It’s part of being human, and for more than 25% of all US people, it’s a part of who we are." We couldn't agree more!! ?? Let's Talk About A Serious Issue: Suicide Prevention Suicide is a serious issue, but it's one we can address by working together. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a fantastic organization making a real difference. ~Become a Hero: Volunteer with AFSP AFSP is always looking for passionate volunteers to help in a variety of ways. You could be: ~A Prevention Educator: Teach life-saving skills through the "Talk Saves Lives" program, tailored for specific audiences like LGBTQ+ communities, older adults, and workplaces. ~A Supportive Listener: Lend a caring ear to those in need. ~An Event Planner: Help organize fundraising walks and other events that raise awareness and critical funds. I recently took the improved "Talk Saves Lives" course with my therapy dog. This program equips you with the knowledge and tools to have open and supportive conversations about suicide. My dog, with her training to sit, listen, and offer love, is just one example of how support can come in many forms. Ready to make a difference??Consider taking the "Talk Saves Lives" course or volunteering with your local AFSP chapter. Together, we can create a world where suicide is prevented. #suicideprevention #stopsuicide #depression Find Your Local Chapter: https://lnkd.in/gcGBvm9N
