London Fashion Week has received quite the buzz for being eclectic, daring, and above all, interesting, as critics have taken to the brands that shocked us—in the best way—with the pieces that came down the runway. And, while I agree—London and Milan have definitely been more avant-garde this year—I don't want this fact to detract from #NYFW and the timeless elegance from the runway; with designers returning to tailored looks and structured pieces. This "tailored" trend has continued, and I hope it's here to stay. But, most importantly, I appreciate the practicality of the collections I've seen. Designer brands, although some may not take too kindly to this, are accessible again in a way they haven't been. Designers have produced pieces that I can see being incorporated into my own wardrobe, and into my clients', with a ?simplicity? that is different from years prior. But, most importantly, #NYFW24 showed us that "American" style has returned, and in a way that distinguishes home-grown brands from others, thanks to collections by the likes of Sergio Hudson, Ralph Lauren, Willy Chavarria, and The Brooklyn Circus. NYFW was a necessary reminder that cultural storytelling is the true essence and driving force of fashion. What have been your thoughts about the Big Four Fashion Weeks? What has stood out to you? ?? Let me know, below. . . #fashionindustry #creativedirector #stylist #personalbrand #marriottinternational

Chloé has a new Creative Director. Let’s unpack what that means… Chloé has appointed a German-born designer Chemena Kamali, its new Creative Director. So how was Kamali’s debut collection at Paris Fashion Week recently?? For starters, it marked a triumphant return to the brand's iconic aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from the late 1970s, Kamali's collection pays homage to Chloé's rich history while infusing it with a contemporary sensibility. The signature frills, flair, lace, and unabashed flamboyance that have defined the brand's aesthetic are reimagined through fluid silhouettes and contrasting proportions. I’d say that Kamali's vision aligns perfectly with Chloé's commitment to empowering women. Her debut collection celebrates intuition, freedom, and the instinctive energy of womanhood. By embracing the brand's heritage and infusing it with a modern touch, Kamali is poised to lead Chloé into a new era of bohemian chic. As Chemena Kamali continues to shape the future of Chloé, her influence on the fashion world will surely grow. What do you think about Kamali as the new creative director? Be honest, and let me know in the comments below. #Fashion #Luxury #Design #Chloé #ChemenaKamali #BohemianChic #Sustainability #NewCreativeDirector #FashionNews

Last week, my class at the FRA attended the Vogue: Inventing the Runway exhibition at The Lightroom in London. It was an immersive experience that showed how fashion shows have evolved from displays of clothing to powerful expressions of designers' visions, often challenging societal boundaries. I learnt about Patrick Kelly, who incorporated racial stereotypes in his fashion to create conversations about race and identity. I was also inspired by Virgil Abloh’s story of how he broke barriers in fashion. He spoke about how, as a young designer, he never thought he could be one because none of the designers looked like him. His advice on removing the "glass ceiling" of self-doubt really inspired me. My favorite part was seeing how designers have turned global locations into cinematic experiences for runways. Fendi’s 2007 show on the Great Wall of China was visible from space with 88 models on an 88 metre runway. It was said to have symbolised creativity, audacity, and the blend of heritage with innovation. Ultimately, the exhibition showed how designers use the world as their runway by creating immersive experiences that can be used to engage global audiences and be remembered beyond the runway which is becoming more and more of a focus from brands today across all industries.

Happy Jacquemus fashion show season, to all those who celebrate! This year, the king of runways brought us 17 iPhones and a century's worth of cultural context. Lucky us. This was JACQUEMUS's return to PFW, and it was unusually intimate. Known for grand productions, this time they invited just 45 guests to a historic Parisian apartment, creating an artistic experience that unfolded like a journey through the past century: The Beginning: Set in the home of French architect Auguste Perret, a pioneer of Art Deco and mentor to Le Corbusier. This building was one of the world’s first reinforced concrete structures—a terrifyingly bold experiment at the time. Banks refused to lend for its apartments, fearing collapse. But its success revolutionized architecture, allowing larger windows and inviting light deep into homes like never before. This shift to light redefined how we live in and experience space. The Middle: The collection mirrored mid-century influences, seen in its silhouettes and materials. A throwback to when design had curves and softness ... unlike concrete. The End: Jacquemus claimed the show was “the first fashion show filmed entirely on an iPhone.” ... 17 iPhones to be precise. Whether or not that’s factually accurate (although us Marketers do love a good superlative), the iPhone—arguably the most important cultural invention of the past 100 years—has completely reshaped how we consume and share fashion. The choice reflects the brand’s instinctive understanding of digital culture. Jacquemus has mastered the art of picking up on TikTok trends and creating their own viral moments—they give the feeling of being chronically online.?So this tech-forward storytelling feels so authentic... inevitable almost? This seamless connection of architecture, fashion, and technology reminds us what great art truly is: rooted in cultural context, intentional, and always looking for the light. ??

Is curating #art the new way for #fashion #designers to tell their stories? As traditional runway shows evolve, designers like REJINA PYO are turning to art to engage audiences in new, creative ways. In her latest exhibition,?"As She Is", Pyo steps away from the exclusivity of fashion shows and instead opens up a dialogue through art, inviting all ages to experience her vision. The exhibition not only celebrates #womanhood but also blurs the lines between fashion and fine art, creating a space where the two can coexist and complement each other. “Everything we have done that is authentic to the brand’s creativity has resulted in something good for us, but when you try to make something specifically for a return on investment, those things rarely work,” Pyo says. This shift reflects a growing trend: designers are embracing the curatorial role showing how fashion can extend beyond the clothes and into broader cultural conversations. For brands, it’s not just about commercial success—it’s about fostering meaningful connections and enriching the creative experience. At?Agence BeYOU , we resonate deeply with this philosophy. We believe in the power of art to drive authentic brand narratives, transcending fashion to create lasting impact. Our collaborations reflect the same values of creativity, innovation, and inclusivity. #ArtMeetsFashion #CuratingCreativity #BeYOU #LuxuryInnovation #luxurybrands #collaborations #partnerships Carol Becker Lacave Frédérique FAVRO MESTRES Céline Gainsburg-Rey Article from the FT ? https://lnkd.in/ezKM9A7T

The Value of Local Designers: Part 1 - Embracing Authenticity Supporting independent local brands and designers is more than a trend; it’s a commitment to authenticity. Why? Independent designers bring a unique and personal touch to their creations, reflecting their journey, values, and artistic vision. By supporting them, we embrace authenticity and foster an environment where creativity and individuality thrive. These unique pieces tell stories that mass-produced items simply cannot, offering a deeper connection to the items we choose to own. By choosing to support these designers, we’re not just purchasing clothing or accessories; we’re embracing their challenges, visions, and artistic journeys. Examples: - Vivienne Westwood - Starting as a school teacher with a passion for punk fashion, Vivienne Westwood opened her first boutique in London in the 1970s. Her authentic and rebellious style soon gained international acclaim, revolutionizing the fashion industry with unique pieces that reflect her personal journey and vision. - Rei Kawakubo (Comme des Gar?ons) - Rei Kawakubo began her career as an independent designer in Japan. Her avant-garde designs, which are deeply rooted in her unique perspective and creative vision, challenged conventional fashion norms and led to the global success of her brand, Comme des Gar?ons. #SupportLocal #IndependentDesigners #Authenticity #CreativeCommunity #UniqueDesigns #CreativeIndustry #DesignChallenges #FreelanceDesigners #DesignSolutions #JewelryMarketplace #SupportDesigners #DesignerCommunity #InnovationInDesign #CreativeSolutions #DesignersUnite #JewelryCreators #ArtisanJewelry #DesignNetwork #CreativeSupport #DesignBusiness #EmergingDesigners #HandmadeJewelry #DesignOpportunities

Do we, as designers, have a responsibility to consider what we create? Last week was Tallinn Fashion Week, and what caught my eye left me saddened… I understand that there are so many creative minds out there, and it’s wonderful that people feel inspired to design. However, seeing the overall picture at TFW felt like a step back in my view for the future of Estonian fashion design. We have incredible brands here, yet many of them no longer wish to participate in Fashion Week. I wonder why? While I’m not saying that every collection lacked quality, many were from familiar faces who have shown great work for years. But for the most part, it was disappointing—both in quality and design. What I Believe Fashion Shows Should Be About: 1?? Fashion shows should present wearable pieces that make sense beyond the runway. 2?? They should showcase craftsmanship, artistry, and the designer’s unique style that leaves the audience in awe. 3?? They should create new trends. What I Observed (and Heard) at This Year’s TFW: 1?? Poor quality—even from online photos, this was evident. 2?? Feedback from attendees shared a similar sentiment: either the show felt uninspiring, with collections that lacked fresh ideas, or it was disheartening considering the potential of our fashion scene. 3?? A lack of fresh talent. 4?? Overall poor marketing for the event—I found out about TFW on the day it occurred, which suggests that crucial information isn’t reaching the right audience. My overall point is to highlight the need for more responsibility in design. Although it's called a "fashion show," that doesn’t justify creating items without purpose, especially in light of today’s environmental challenges. Each piece should be thoughtfully crafted and justified, whether it's for artistic expression or meant to be worn. With all we already produce, it’s time for designers to take accountability. How can we build a stronger community among designers to elevate our collective work and support one another? ????
