?? Don't miss this free webinar with Catholic Relief Services and Georgetown University's . Register at the link below: "The phenomenon of preventable child-family separation is as old as time. Societal approaches to children at risk of losing parental care are largely informed by cultural beliefs and habits. Faith-based perspectives and responses are—and have always been—an important part of this equation. Christian faith communities have responded to child-family separation in various ways throughout history, contributing to both the propagation and prevention of child-family separation across time and contexts. The Faith and the Family Forum has considered this history in a series of webinars focusing on the theology of the child, children’s care and protection, and the Catholic Church’s role in child-family separation through the development and use of residential care worldwide, during American slavery, in Indigenous communities, and in migration policy and response. During this webinar, participants will consider how the Catholic Church is learning from this history; supporting vulnerable children, families, and communities; and helping to prevent unnecessary child-family separation. Ask yourself, why do we want guests to come to the church? While the answer might be obvious to some, ensure every member knows the local church’s mission. In a post-Christian world, the church has difficulty connecting with marginalized Christians and non-Christians in the community as never before. The church’s goal is gospel connections, but many established churches focus on connecting with members and forgetting about future guest connections. You have probably heard the statement; first impressions are lasting impressions. What must you do to make a positive first impression if that is the case? Some of the primary things that a guest will look for is signage. Is there updated clear signage for guests entering the church building, as many established churches have multiple entrances? Once guests enter the foyer, ensure signage directs them to the sanctuary, restrooms, classrooms, guests’ check-in, etc., and it’s big enough to be seen from across the room and not just up close as a guest will scan the room looking for next steps if a church member has not helped them. Small steps make lasting impressions. #ChurchRevitalization

John Stott once said, "Our Christian habit is to bewail the world’s deteriorating standards with an air of rather self-righteous dismay. We criticize its violence, dishonesty, immorality, disregard for human life, and materialistic greed. ‘The world is going down the drain,’ we say with a shrug. But whose fault is it? Who is to blame? Let me put it like this. If the house is dark when nightfall comes, there is no sense in blaming the house; that is what happens when the sun goes down. The question to ask is, ’Where is the light?’ Similarly, if the meat goes bad and becomes inedible, there is no sense in blaming the meat; this is what happens when bacteria are left alone to breed. The question to ask is, ’Where is the salt?’ Just so, if society deteriorates and its standards decline until it becomes like a dark night or a stinking fish, there is no sense in blaming society; that is what happens when fallen men and women are left to themselves, and human selfishness is unchecked. The question to ask is, ‘Where is the Church? Why are the salt and light of Jesus Christ not permeating and changing our society?" ~ This is a sobering reminder as a #studentMinistryWorker, my #hope, as is our #vision at Fellowship of Christian Unions (FOCUS) Kenya , that Christian students and associates will #impact the institutions of higher learning the church and society. Blessed Sunday.

A recent report found that 72% of evangelical Christians came to their faith in Christ before their 18th birthday (https://lnkd.in/e4mKaigx). Children ministry is so important, and what better place to reach the next generation with the hope of Christ than America's public schools? But is that even legal? The answer is yes, so long as: 1. Instruction takes place off school grounds; 2. Students' attendance is voluntary and with parental permission; and 3. No state or federal resources (taxpayer funds) are used. Released Time is privately funded - by churches, community organizations, and/or individuals. Our Ministry is to YOU. Sometimes churches need to fold for legitimate reasons. How a church closes its doors is very important. Dr. Fant writes, "Sadly, some churches have accomplished their purpose and need to close. This decision presents countless uncertainties that likely will elicit fear in even the most audacious church leaders. But closing, though often difficult and emotional, need not be interpreted as failure. In fact, a church that dies with dignity can have a major impact on other churches and even continue its ministry into the future."
