According to the World Health Organization, over 60% of contraceptive users globally are women, highlighting the gender imbalance in family planning responsibilities. This imbalance is part of a larger care gap, where women disproportionately bear the physical, emotional, and financial burden of reproductive health. Studies reveal that women spend an average of 2.5 years of their lives pregnant, postpartum, or trying to conceive, compared to men, who experience minimal physical impacts from reproduction (Guttmacher Institute, 2020). But the care gap doesn’t stop there. Women are often left to navigate inadequate maternity leave, a lack of accessible childcare, and limited healthcare resources, all while managing professional and caregiving responsibilities. This system not only undermines women’s economic contributions but also perpetuates inequality in their personal and professional lives. This week, we’re turning our attention to failings in maternity care and their disproportionate impact on Black women and babies, highlighted by a recent editorial in The Guardian. At Fertifa, we are dedicated to providing reproductive health care for everyone, and this includes addressing the stark disparities in healthcare. ? These gaps come from a mix of institutional racism and systemic failures in maternity care. Problems like poor record-keeping, rigid medical hierarchies, and lack of cultural understanding contribute to these outcomes. Fertifa ensures inclusivity is at the heart of everything we do. Our personalised support can be accessed by any employee, no matter their ethnicity, socioeconomic background, gender identity, sexual orientation, relationship status, biological sex, or age. ? We need to talk about health disparities beyond just awareness days, weeks, and months. ?? What if men had the same biology as women in the workplace? ?? Imagine a world where men experienced the same biological realities as women—pregnancy, childbirth, periods, and the health conditions that come with them. What would change? Here’s what we think: ?? Parental Leave: The need for equitable, longer paid parental leave would be undeniable—and universally embraced. ? Flexible Work: Pregnancy and recovery would normalize flexibility, making it standard for everyone. ?? Health Support: Conditions like endometriosis and PCOS would finally receive the research funding and workplace accommodations they deserve. ?? Stigma-Free Policies: Menstrual leave and access to wellness products would be as commonplace as coffee breaks. ???????? Shared Responsibilities: Caregiving would no longer be seen as a "woman's role," creating true equality at home and in the office. ?? Pay Equity: With shared experiences, the gender pay gap might finally close for good. These shifts could lead to more inclusive workplaces, where policies are designed with empathy and everyone thrives. Let’s reimagine the future, together. ???? ?? How do you think workplaces would change if biology wasn’t a barrier? #WiWSummit #GenderEquity #InclusiveWorkplaces #FutureOfWork

We've always believed that if women stay home while their partners work, they should shoulder the lion's share of the care load at home. However, data on stay-at-home dads shows a different reality. When dads stay home and moms work, women still shoulder the majority of household responsibilities, especially the mental overload that comes with it. Many stay-at-home fathers report a "domestic handoff," where their partners take over household tasks during evenings and weekends, reinforcing traditional caregiving roles. From 1989 to 2021, the proportion of stay-at-home fathers rose from 4% to 7%, while the proportion of stay-at-home mothers slightly decreased from 28% to 26%. This change, while significant, has not led to a complete shift in household dynamics. Despite more fathers taking on the stay-at-home role, the expectation for mothers to manage household responsibilities persists, highlighting the deep-rooted societal norms around gender roles in caregiving and household management. Any guess whose behind the success of a Women ??? Behind every successful woman, there's often an untold story of navigating through disproportionate care responsibilities. From managing household chores to caregiving duties, women are often burdened with an unequal share of the care workload, impacting their professional aspirations and personal well-being. This isn't just a women's issue, it's a societal issue that demands attention and action. By recognizing and addressing the unequal distribution of care responsibilities, we can create a more equitable world where women are empowered to thrive both in their careers and personal lives. I extend my request to the men in the society to be an equal partner in their households. With sharing the workload of childcare duties and their needs to supporting their partner through the emotional meltdowns. Let's advocate for policies that support parental leave, affordable childcare, flexible work arrangements, and a cultural shift that values and shares caregiving responsibilities equally. Together, we can dismantle barriers and create opportunities for all to succeed. Need clarity on your responsibilities! Let's reflect together. What happens when the model of a “three-stage life” no longer fits? Today, women are stepping up in the workplace, but it’s not just about balancing work and family — it’s also about elder care. The gender pay gap is becoming a pregnancy penalty, and with fewer children and later life stages, women face increasing pressure. Meanwhile, caregiving responsibilities for ageing parents are falling predominantly on women. For true equality, caregiving responsibilities need to be shared more equally. Without this, we risk losing some of the best talent from the workforce. How can businesses support employees juggling both career and elder care responsibilities?
