?? Teachers, let’s talk about an online system that transformed my classroom management: The Online Hall Pass! ?? ????♂? During one school year, I had a student who asked to leave class every single day. Keeping track of all the trips manually? A total headache. So I created a solution that was easy, efficient, and digital—perfect for teachers juggling multiple responsibilities. Here’s how it works: ???? I built a Google Form where students log their name, period, and destination (restroom, media center, nurse, etc.). ???? If their trip isn’t to the restroom, they’re prompted to explain the purpose of their visit. ???? Responses are time-stamped and automatically organized in a spreadsheet, which stays open on my screen. ??Not only does this method help track students leaving the classroom, but it also keeps them accountable and can deter unnecessary trips. Plus, if admins or parents ask about a student’s time out of class, the documentation is ready to go. Want to know how to set this up? Let me know in the comments! Over the past 8 years, we’ve been building this platform with the goal to provide the absolute best experience for class discussions. As we listened and learned from?many incredible educators, a question kept coming up... Could we run entirely discussion-based courses on Parlay? As teachers used Parlay online during covid, we got a glimpse of how we might facilitate full learning experiences on Parlay. So, we built?Parlay Seminars!?Discussion-based mini courses where where teens read a classic text & develop skills to be deep thinkers and strong communicators. https://parlayseminars.com Each week, students read a section of the text, write their initial ideas, get feedback from their peers in a Written RoundTable & participate in one Verbal RoundTable. For teens, we’re offering 8?courses this summer & fall. Each one is centered around a classic text (1984, Frankenstein, The Great Gatsby etc.) or a current event (the upcoming election!) For educators, we're offering the opportunity to experience a Parlay Seminar as a student. Through weekly Written and Verbal RoundTables, teachers explore the Parlay methodology more deeply over 5 weeks with other Parlay educators! Interested in learning more?
