(October 2, 2024) — Collaborative efforts among Placer County utility districts continue to pay off in both water quality and quantity, according to reports presented at the September meeting of the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) Board of Directors. Local utility districts have tackled such issues as copper and lead levels, upgrading water meters, fighting algae blooms, and replacing water mains as well as dealt with emergencies as they continued to provide their customers with water reliability... A huge thank you to everyone who attended the 2024 West Coast Hydro User Group Conference and tour hosted by PCWA! The West Coast Hydro Users Group (WCHUG) meeting an annual conference of nearly twenty hydroelectric power generation agencies and water districts of varying sizes within California. The intent of this group is to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration for current engineering, regulatory, operations and maintenance, and management challenges for a wide range of topics. Each year, the WCHUG conference is hosted by a different utility and includes host utility profile presentations and facility tours to better understand the similarities and differences varying organizations. This collaborative group was established nearly 20 years ago with only about a dozen participants and has grown to nearly 160 attendees in 2024. PCWA’s Hydropower crews have been hard at work upgrading important pieces of infrastructure on our Middle Fork American River Project.
