Director of Construction at Biotonomy - I help developing and implementing nature-based solutions for Architecture & Construction
The challenges we face in our world today are urgent and complex, and sustainable development has become more necessary than ever before. However, the development industry has been slow to respond to these pressing issues, and the "sustainable" solutions available have not evolved for 40-50 years. As Nature Based Soultions rise as a key pathway towards building healthier and more resilient societies, many opportunities arise for those that dare to think outside the box, push boundaries, and challenge the status quo. By embracing this innovative approach, professionals can create solutions that go beyond traditional design and engineering practices, and integrate nature in a way that maximizes its benefits. Those who are willing to take risks and explore new avenues of innovation can make significant contributions toward building a more sustainable and prosperous future for all. The BIOTONOMY Academy is a innovative training program designed to transform the development industry and empower the next generation of leaders to drive this systemic change. The Academy equips students with technical skills, industry knowledge, and an entrepreneurial mindset to bring innovative solutions to the market. Read the full article below to learn more about how the Biotonomy Academy is designed to empower the next generation of sustainable development leaders. #biotonomy #naturebasedsolutions #capacitybuilding

?? New project started! ?? We're excited to announce the launch of our latest project, one which aligns perfectly with CLIB's strategic pillars of developing bioeconomists, fostering entrepreneurship, and facilitating technology transfer. As of early April, our graduate cluster for sustainable bioeconomy is officially underway! ?? Graduate Cluster ‘AUFBRUCH - Shaping the transformation to a sustainable regional bioeconomy’ ?? AUFBRUCH - Graduate Cluster marks a novel collaboration, bringing together three universities, three universities of applied sciences, a research institution, and an innovation network. Thanks to the funding of 12.5 million euros from the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (German Federal Ministry for Education and Research), we will be able to train and support a 37+ strong cohort of doctoral students. Our goal? To empower the doctoral candidates with interdisciplinary training and entrepreneurial insights, enabling them to actively drive the transformation of the Rhenish mining area (Rheinisches Revier). By breaking down barriers between disciplines, stakeholders, and fields of expertise, AUFBRUCH aims to pave the way for a sustainable bioeconomy in the region. Check out this short documentary from one of the National Science Challenges, Science for Technological Innovation. ?? Highlighted in the documentary are interviews with researchers, communities, industry and SfTI leaders, who outline the great work that has been supported by the National Science Challenge over the past decade. From the doco: Pauline Harris says "we've seen thousands of human connections made at SfTI events, that bridge the gap between skilled scientists, and the people they ultimately want to help." ??
Resourcing relationships as well as research has primed Aotearoa for a flourishing high-tech future. ?? In the final months of the Science for Technological National Science Challenge, the SfTI team has been working hard to capture stories and data that allows us to share the lessons learned from this decade-long mission-led experiment. ?? ? Watch our short documentary to see some of the teams and technologies that have pushed the limits of high-tech science with SfTI support over the years. ?? We are so proud to see the power of the diverse and broad networks that our mission-led approach to science has created and how building a sense of community around science has supported innovation. https://lnkd.in/geJ2y9t2 #NZSciChallenges #SfTI MBIE Science Science Media Centre of New Zealand Callaghan Innovation Victoria University of Wellington Auckland University of Technology University of Canterbury Lincoln Agritech Limited University of Otago Lincoln University (NZ) Cawthron Institute Ageing Well - Kia eke kairangi ki te taikaumātuatanga Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge Building Better Homes, Towns and Cities A Better Start National Science Challenge E Tipu e Rea High-Value Nutrition Ko Ngā Kai Whai Painga Our Land and Water National Science Challenge Resilience to Nature's Challenges KiwiNet Wellington UniVentures chaz doherty Te Taka Keegan Jamie Bell Leonie Jones Millan Ruka Richard Green Hēmi Whaanga Grace Brown (nee. How do ECHO hub leaders ensure the longevity of their programs? They revealed three key elements: Champions, Evaluation, and Funding. They also explained how these elements work together - how evaluations persuade funders, how champions link them to funders and evaluators, and how evaluations attract more champions. Our team at Diffusion Associates, in collaboration with ECHO Super Hubs at the University of Chicago and the West Virginia Clinical and Translational Science Institute, is helping ECHO hub leaders create strategic plans for sustainability. Sustainability is not serendipitous, its a strategy.
